Because I wanted to play some isos and the only memory stick of mine big enough was my 4 gig magic memory stick, I had to eventually format it due to this (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2148359647#post2148359647) problem I have. I recently upgraded my PSP's firmware to 5.50 GEN-A (on a PSP 1000) and then hit my head on my desk for a few minutes when I realized that I couldn't play SvR2010 on 5.50, but I could play it on the cfw I had, 5.00.

So I tried reinstalling 5.00 from my magic memory stick (I had all the files backed up). I put my Pandora in while holding L and...nothing happened. When I formatted it, did it make it just a normal old memory stick? If so, how can I make it magic again?

TLDR version: Did formatting my magic memory stick make it lose it's "magic"?

Yes it did. Not only that, but it's likely a few KBs at the front have become essentially non-existent.

Shiiiiiiit. Any way I can make it magic again? I have all the files, just not the...whatever makes it a "magic" memory stick.

Or is there a way to downgrade from 5.50A to 5.00 without the magic mem stick? I have the 5.00 update data in my Pandora files backup folder, if it's needed.

The sticks work by using some sort of file-system gymnastics I don't fully understand.
Find a MMS-maker that works in 550. There's several.
