Lots of outlets have reported about Microsoft’s upcoming Fable III: Kingmaker mobile phone app – but few have spotted the footnote confirming its release for Android and iPhone.
The app is described as “an innovative geo-location mobile gaming experience” that essentially sounds much like a Four Square-like title for Fable fans. Gold earned in the game will subsequently be transferable to the Xbox 360 title that will be released on October 29th.
The release of the game on mobile platform such as Apple’s iPhone and Google Android is surprising to say the least, particularly as Microsoft is putting so much into the launch of its new mobile platform Windows Phone 7.
“To be able to earn gold you can use in your Fable III game, and to check-in and claim land for your side is brilliant for both Fable III and Xbox 360,” Microsoft Games Studios Europe creative director Peter Molyneux stated.
“We all love the innovation and feeling of being connected that Kingmaker brings to gamers.”

Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment boss Chris Lewis added: “Fable III: Kingmaker brings gaming out of the home and turns your town or city into the setting for an epic online battle.

“We are always challenging ourselves to find new, exciting ways to deliver second-to-none gaming experiences and we can’t wait to see Fable fans take to the streets across Europe with Fable III: Kingmaker.”
The game, which is free, will hit Android and Symbian phones on October 4th, iPhone on October 6th and Windows Phone 7 when Microsoft finally launches the system.
