View Full Version : Has anyone ever successfully downgraded from 2.60?

I saw the Firmware 2.50/2.60 downgrader program here:

http://dl.qj.net/Easy-2.50-2.60-downgrader-PSP/pg/12/fid/8607/catid/114

But then some people here are saying that it only works with certain models of PSPs. Anyone have any more info on this? Can it really downgrade a 2.60 PSP? Or will it brick it every time?

Wow, I just realized that I horribly misspelled the word “downgraded” in the topic title. ^_^;

How did that happen? >_>

I have downgraded my 2.6 PSP for the seccond time today :D It works,no problems. It dosent work on PSP's with TA-082 motherboards but you can tell if yours it a TA-082 by looking at this:

http://www.maxconsole.net/content_img/ta82spot.jpg

Good look ;)

Um... I can't see that picture. It just takes me to a little image that says maxconsole.net.

You know you can edit the title right?

ryutoki
August 30th, 2006, 04:53
Oh, no I didn't know that! ^_^;

Thanks for telling me.

Good bye "dadowngred"!

Lol! Well I hope you successfully downgrade your PSP! :)

ryutoki
August 30th, 2006, 04:59
Yeah, this thing does for sure work, right? I know HellsPlumber already said it did, but I'm still not entirely certain. =/

What are the chances of bricking my PSP? Will bricking only occur if I screw up, or is there still a chance my PSP will be bricked even if I do everything perfectly?

I really don't want to screw anything up. Plus, the instructions in the link I posted in the first post are kind of confusing.

There have been hundreds (maybe thousands ) of 2.6 downgrades that have worked properly. Only two known failed. One unplugged, and one forgot a file or soemthing. It's pretty risk free, unless you don't follow directions. ;)

ryutoki
August 30th, 2006, 05:12
OK, what files do I need? On the site is says this:

"The only files that are missing from this version are the downdater files which you must obtain from a firmware 1.5 user."

Give me your eMail, I got a link. ;)

Also, is it safe to constantly upgrade and downgrade my PSP? Cuz' I've got a few games that require Firmware 2.60 or higher to run (like MGA2).

Video_freak

You can use Devhook to emulate 2.71. ;)

Hey, I notice that my copy of GTA:LCS looks different from the picture in the program I downloaded:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/snuuj/GTA-LCSumd.png

My copy of GTA:LCS looks like this:
http://www.pspworld.com/sony-psp/images/gta-umd.jpg

Is this a problem? Will I have to find a copy that looks like the other one? My copy still works with the save file eLoader thing, so I'm not sure. =/

What would happen if I tried to downgrade using my copy of GTA:LCS?

Hello? Does it matter that my GTA disc looks different than the one in the picture from the downgrader?

bad news good news and bad news

bad news: it may be a newer patched version which doesn't support eLoader

good news: they say an eloader for up till 2.71 will be out soon so u could be able to use that

bad news: i'm not sure if it'll work

hmmm..lemme go dig up something i saw about how to see if gta is patched...

edit:FOUND IT!

The following are for the EU/UK versions of the game:

GTA: LCS (unpatched):
ULES-00151#

GTA: LCS (Patched 2.6 Version):
ULES-00151#2

This one is for the US version
ULUS 10041 Patched - Contails UPDL 010050 on the UMD.

ULUS 10041 Unpatched - Contains UPDL 0048501A 5, plus IFPI L332 in very small letters.

Well, I've actually been using the eLoader for a while already. I've played a couple homebrew games and got a Sega Genesis emulator and SNES emulator running on my PSP.

So my copy of GTA DOES allow me to use the eLoader, but I just wasn't sure if it would also allow me to downgrade.

So if I can use the eLoader, that means I can also downgrade, right?

razorak
August 31st, 2006, 04:32
yup...unless your motherboard is TA-082...lol

ryutoki

Here's my PSP:

As you can see, there is no writting in the corner under the UMD hood thing.

It doesnt matter that it looks different, the only thing u have to check for is that your GTA LCS has the 2.0 update because those are the ones that allow the downgrade, I believe the ones without them are patched.

Yes, my copy of GTA has the 2.00 update.

cool i think u can do it then, but if you are still not shure about it, try loading fanjitas eloader and if it works then im positive it will work.

PSP fw2.6-not suitable for downgrading
-TA-082 board
-factory 2.6
but hope at last!

hey razorak u can just swap ur psp with a little kids or something, its not like if ur scamming them because i doubt they will know how 2 run homebrew and just hope for a 2.x suitable 4 downgrade.

ryutoki
August 31st, 2006, 05:49
There's going to be a new eLoader? How is it better than the current one?

I already said that I had used the eLoader before. >_>

***just remember not to remover your battery or ac adapter when downgrading***

Do I absolutely have to have the A/C adapter pluged in, or is that just in case the battery dies while downgrading?

ryutoki

OK, I ran that spotlight thing. Here's what it said:

PSP Hardware Ver. SpotLight
v1.01 By 0okm

This PSP Use Old Ver. Hardware

PowerOFF to exit

razorak
August 31st, 2006, 06:05
then by all means go for the downgrade

Good Luck!
dun forget to follow the instructions exactly as stated or the chances of bricking goes up

p.s the new eloader doesn't need gta to run and it is supposed to have kernal access =)

pibs
August 31st, 2006, 06:13
I advise you to keep the ac adapter also because you can never be too sure.

The 2.5/2.6 easy downgrader is so much easier and safer than the 2.71 downgrader.

i had a 2.50 psp non ta-082, upgraded to 2.60, popped in gta loader and did the downgrade, upgraded back to 2.00 and used mph to go back to 1.50, worked like a charm! :)
