Help with new Wii please

Just got new black wii with Wii sports and resort for my sone who loves it. Got it on Thursday - On Saturday when I switched it on Wii would respond to the A press on controller and Home button but nothing else. It was producing white noise (like thunder...) and I couldn't use controllers - thinking it might have overheated I left it a day. Switching back on was exactly the same.

Any Ideas?

They make a fan that plugs in to the Wii's USB port that will help the over heating. Most of the time it come from using it non stop.
