Metal Gear Solid 3D features gyroscopic controls and a touch screen-based HUD.

Series creator Hideo Kojima confirmed the features via his Twitter (translated by Andriasang) and snapped a photo of the game's E3 demo in action.

"I at last crossed the suspension bridge using the gyro controls," Kojima wrote of the game's playable E3 2011 build. There was a suspension bridge in last year's basic E3 demo - although that build was more of an-rails demonstration and the only controls on offer were via the 3DS touch pad.

The new image shows Snake sneaking through a patch of long grass. Graphically the game looks far more detailed than last year's build; the colours are richer and a bright forest canopy lies above, illuminated with bloom lighting.

The touch screen holds all of the game's HUD, allowing the top screen to remain uncluttered. Health and ammo guages lie over a map of the local terrain.

There are buttons to switch weapons quickly, and even one to affix what looks like a silencer.
