I was looking for info regarding 8 gig memory sticks, and found this:

Apparently PSPs can't use memory sticks over 4 GB (until now). That i did not know

So 2.81 can use 8GB? Let's get cracking then.

Well, 2.81 has been decrypted.

I meant homebrew on 2.81. Imagine how many ROMs you could fit... :)

with the PS1 emulator on PSP to be launched very soon, am sure Sony is making that 8 Gb memory stick launch soon enough. Now only if someone cracks this 2.81 its gonna be best of many many worlds. PS1 emulation + homebrew. Wow thats a full circle i suppose

I'm pretty confident we'll see something that'll let us use over 4gig but homebrew on 2.8 will be nice.Especially if we can launch it the same way we do on 1.5

but wait.. if 2.81 is required to use a 8 gig memory card, you'd still have to use devhook to launch it. I wonder if you'd be able to do that on the same memory card, if it's a 1.5 (???)

It'll probably recognize an 8gig as a 4gig.

maybe there is a way to partition it into two, 2 four gig partitions . and after you use devhook you can see both.
maybe that will work?

I thought 2.81 was a security fix of 2.8 therefore 2.8 will see larger memory sticks.

if you boot up devhook with a smaller memstick, and then swap it with the 8gb once devhook has loaded, it will work, as long as you have the same devhook files on the 8gb memstick as you had on the smaller one. Swapping memsticks during devhook ONLY works when BOTH memsticks have the SAME devhook files (believe me, i've experimented with this). You could just use like a cheap 32mb as your "boot disk". Problem Solved.
