View Full Version : Ds touch screen as input device for psp

I was wondering if it would be possible to use the Ds touchscreen as a input device for the psp, maybe adhoc using lua or something like that?

I own both a psp and a Ds and could get some use by having this capability, maybe even splitting up processing tasks between the two and passing information back and forth.

Holly crap that would rock.

I believe there was a homebrew game that let the two adhoc, don't know if it was lua though.

If it is possible, then we should try the idea of using the DS as keyboard input. :)

Agreed video freak,I could really use this kinda functionality for something I wanna work on in lua

holy crap!! why isnt someone working on ds as psp keyboards!?!? if they can be linked via ad-hoc then it shouldnt be too hard right? that would be friggin awesome.

wow this is actually a bright idea! and if thats possible can't a ds emu for psp work, but nah no use since you already have a ds lol but the keyboard thing sounds cooltastic

God, please one you awesome coders help us out on this one!I'm sure lots of us around here have a PSP and a DS!!!
really cool if it could be lua capable as my feeble/weak coding skills are limited to lua at the moment.

harleyg might be able to help... I know he was working on a device that would be added onto the psp for touch support

That would be great but what kind of touch device was he planning on interfacing with?
Really i think the easiest way would be to have DSlua adhoc capable with the psp.
Especially since I don't want to buy anymore hardware than I have to.I mean I have so much crap I want to buy this year anyway.

Very intersting idea. HarleyG was working on a touch screen for the PSP. But I think he put it on the backburner in favor of his 0x89 project.

If harleyg pulls through on his projects then the PSP will be so much more incredible than it is now. I am pumped for his work.

you guys do know that this will cost money since the DS needs those cartrige things to load any homebrew, and they aren't cheap

NoQuarter
September 26th, 2006, 03:26
True, but if you already have a DS and plan on running homebrew on it you need those things anyway.

hopefully someone does this cuz i got ds and psp and the idea is killer

yeah, then i guess it really wouldn't matter then, but i just wanted to remind people. :)

that would be a great idea!!!
:D
if the homebrew hunter sees this forum, he will start screaming about this topic like whatre th F are you talking about! the DS is better!!
i respect him but he just explodes when psp has more homebrew than DS by topics..........

Well in this thread both systems are on equal ground :P Honestly I love both systems :)

If this idea can become a reality, then I'll share my reason for wanting this kind of functionality.
Other than the obvious things we could do with it of course :D

I wonder what Zion thinks about this idea, and whether he has a DS?

iono, but i think if he makes it, that would be cool!!!

NoQuarter
September 26th, 2006, 04:01
Yes it would, since he knows lua and is learning C thats why I thought of him.I really wish a coder would pick up on this.

I just thought of something. Instead of using the DS as an input device for the PSP (which would be pretty cool). Why not make an app pr prog which can communicate between each other? Maybe we con do something so that they can share their CPU speed. Or WiFi connected games. Might not be practical but it would be cool.

You too man, good night and good luck on your exams.

Forever~Zero:
Basically thats what I was talking about: sharing the CPU speeds and other things.Like keyboard input and cross platform multiplayer games.
There was one thing I really want this for though and it is neither of those two I just mentioned.
There are a few cool things we could do with this basically.

You guys were talking about that? Ok my bad might have misunderstood. Anyway i think most useful might be cross-platform homebrew. Honestly i think it will be difficult to "type" using the DS in one hand and a PSP in the other. I wonder why no one is working on this. The DS and PSP fanboys wouldnt need to rant about who is better if it works.

Maybe we con do something so that they can share their CPU speed.
You would get a lot of lag...
