OK, I'm almost done replacing my new motherboard...but I'm stuck!

I can't seem to get this connector separated...HOW IS IT PROPERLY DONE?

Look in the picture. It's the oval shaped red circle in the middle. That connector. Please someone help...It's late and I still have to put everything back toghether.

Thank you

Nevermind...Got it...Had to kinda Yank the sucker out...was pretty tight in there.

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys!

It's ready and working! Zion's put a custom firmware on this called PSP1.50>4life, with a custom gameboot and everything else in it. It's pretty sweet...I'm one happy dude, YAY!

I'm gonna have to go back in, though...I was so exited I had put everything back toghether, that I got kinda careless when I snaped the faceplate back in place and now the D-pad's right arrow contact will sometimes behave like if you were pressing UP...no matter...It'll have to wait till tommorrow...I really couldn't sleep having a New MoBo at my grasp and all XP.

So for those of you interested...MY PSP IS ALIVE AND KICKING ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Thank you ZION and the kind people of DCemu!!!!

BTW...anybody know what I can do with my old 1/2 bricked MoBo???....besides waiting for a fix someday?

OK...Everything was fine last night, and today I stumble into some PSP problems again....

The thing is, last night I succesfully installed Zion's Motherboard, and I only tested homebrew...NJ's CPS2PSP ver1.01 with Street Fighter Alpha2 to be more specific...It seemed to work fine at the moment. Since it was very late, and I'd worked my butt off already I simply did a forced power-off within the emulator's menu, and went straight to snooze for a couple of hours.

Today, I turn on my PSP to test if all the features are working fine, USB/Photo/Music/Video/UMD/etc.

As soon as I turned it on the screen iluminated ok but it stayed pitch black forever, and I noticed that the PSP kept trying to acess the Memory Stick over and over...nothing else happened...hooo boy, I thought to myself...I forced a power-off on the sucker and turned it on again, but this time I put the power switch on hold to enable the custom firmware's recovery mode...BTW I need the files to be able to run the recovery...They are:

-index.dat
-recovery.elf
-vshmain.prx

Can somebody link me to a reliable source so I can download these files?

Another thing I've just noticed is that my UMD drive is taking forever to load a UMD...and further more none of my UMD games are loading at all...YIKES! this has me really nervous...I'm gonna have to double check on everything once again.

I really did take extreme safety precautions replacing this motherboard. I put on rubber gloves, everything fit perfectly in it's place, no scratched surfaces, used an air duster before closing...etc. etc....So I'm really pissed. Guys, I'm sorry but I need your help once again.

I'm really busy today at work, but I'll log on later...So feel free to either post here or PM me about your ideas.

Thanks again people, I don't know what I'd do without a lot of you around:cool:

Wow that really stinks. Sounds like wires are sending energy elsewhere so double check the wires connections first. Because it sounds like its sucking connection at least from one wire and transferring it trough the board and if thats the case i wouldn't turn the psp on again till you figure if this is the case.

Thanks Acid, do you or anyone else know where I can get the 3 files for recovery?

I went back in and checked all contacts...now the UMD does spin inside the drive this time, but still no load...Meh...I'm stuck in the same place once again.

I am not sure if this helps but...once I tried switching out a TA-082 motherboard inside of a white PSP with a non TA-082 mobo and EVRYTHING was haywire. Maybe Sony has a couple of different mobo revision(besides the TA-082) and that is why your getting funky stuff. Also I noticed that when you were have trouble removing that one cable from your PSP you said somehting about pulling really hard to get it out. If memory serves me correctly, I think you can just lift up on that latch holding that cable in to remove/insert it. MAybe that cable isnt in correctly. Also, are you using acustom firmware?

If you are taking apart your PSP again anyway(I really feel for you), I would compare your old Mobo and your new one.

@Apoklepz

those the little circle on the bottom left corner that indicates that a UMD is loading appear?

Does it stay there for a while and then go away without loading the UMD?

this happened to my other psp, never got it to work..:(

You HAVE to pull it out...It's the only circuit connector band in the whole unit that DOESN'T have a support latch...Zion told me that's also the same connector that's probably unabling the UMDs to load...It's probably not snug in enough...So one last time(3rd time's a charm) I'm gonna go in and jam that sucker in with my bare hands and rubber gloves.:p ...Yeah I have Harley Qs last custom firmware installed...blame the Zion man:D

Yeah, it appears to be loading for a looooong time, then it goes away...Again, I'll try Zion's advice tonight and I'll post back tommorrow...

cmon i've been following this case for a while now....im rooting for a victory!

yea, i would take it all apart and put it all back together again, best way to fix hardware problems i've found.

and the internal boards arent THAT fragile, only the damn clips that keep the wires in the motherboard are fragile, almost every time i play w/ displays i break that damn thing ><

best of luck man!

Thank you Kando...guess what guys?

IT'S ALIIIIIIIIVVVVVEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had to jam in that circuit connector a little further in.:D
I gotta apologize to brainpan about what I said earlier ...It doesn't have an assembly latch/lid like all the other circuit strips, but it does have two little, almost unnidentifiable keys to the sides...:p Sorry dude if I sounded like a total noob earlier, guess you were right.

Thanks to Zion once again for the tip yesterday via MSN...You rock, bro!

Now I'll proceed to enjoy the latest Daedalus...YAY!

BTW, I'm stuck with my old 512MB stick for now, since I traded Zion my 1GB for the MoBo, but it's all good...

that, as well as when the analog stick "snaps" and wont function on one of its axis's....if you open the psp, and unscrew the 2 screws to the analog stick, take it out...

pop off the metal covering by popping the side notches...once thats off, carefully pop the circuit board off, and just re-align the 2 plastic pieces inside of the analog stick, its easy to figure out how they "should" be.

=)
