yeah that happens, sounds like that motor has died, no easy fix for that. No if the lens is moving and the disc is spinning, but its not booting the disc, there is a fix for that.

to be honest, it would be alot cheaper/easier to buy a second hand dc. the replacement part is about the same price as a dc now, and then you have shipping.

buying a used dc lis a bit hard, and if you buy over the internet the freight is astronomical and the lens may be near its end, so wont buying a lens be cheaper? i heard stories of people buying 3 or more just for the replacement parts.

i own 3 myself but one dont work.

I bought two extra DCs (one for my friend) at Gamecrazy for $25.

If you could get the replacement part that would be good, because then someone else can get a DC.

lik sang did sell the part for like £20 at one time and thats before p&p, they are out of stock at the mo. I would guess ebay

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=155&products_id=1567&

thats what you want there, but good luck finding it

edit: ok i googled and found this

http://ps2modchip.com/search.php?page=dc9

but i have never used them or heard of them, so use at your own risk (lik-sang are great though, shame they have none)

You can also go to EB. Last I checked, they still sold DCs for $25.
