PSX emulator and ISO's

With all this talk about the new PSX emulator for PSP, I've been wondering about how to strip an ISO to fit on my 512MB memory stick. I made some disk images from my PSX game collection, and the ISO's are on my computer, but most of them are larger than 512 MB. How can I make the ISO smaller? Will the ISO still work OK if I replace all of the video files on the CD (if any) with some 1 byte files? Is there anything else I can do?
