View Full Version : Tiff E-loader vs. Homebrew Enabler

Hi all, :D
I have a 2.6 PSP (TA-082), which I got a few months ago. Having been told that downgrading on a TA-082 past 2.5 was impossible, so I sort of gave up. I recently checked back and was extatic to find out about the "tiff e-loader" for 2.6. I also heard about a certain "homebrew enabler".
I was wondering what the difference was, besides the fact that the HEN can apparently run from the XMB. What is the difference in compatibility of homebrew games? And which is more effective/better?

Thx ;) : The Catalyst

The TIFF eloader runs a fair amount of homebrews, but most Kernal-mode homebrew doesn't work with it, like DGEN.

The HEN allows you to run Devhook, which in turn allows you to emulate the 1.50 firmware, YES 1.50 on a TA-082, and thus run all the Homebrew available to any 1.50 PSP user.

the Port of Devhook that runs on the HEN requires you to upgrade your PSP to 2.71, but that's ok, because the TIFF eloader runs on 2.71 as well, so you won't lose anything by upgrading.

I have a TA-082, with a factory 2.60 firmware. I upgraded it to 2.71, and then installed the HEN version C, and the Devhook for 2.71 launcher and the full Devhook .45 release. I can now run EVERYTHING a 1.50 user can, and It'll even run *cough*isos*cough* if you want.

Thanks Carpy
--"and It'll even run *cough*isos*cough* if you want"--lol :D

I think i will have to upgrade my e-loader as my version only supports up to 2.6, not 2.7 or 2.71.

Does anyone know where a good tut for installing HEN C can be found?

there's a readme that's easy to follow that comes with the rar file for the homebrew enabler ver. C

aargh, I sucessfully updated my .98 e-loader to .99, but no homebrew worked, so i formatted the mem stick and loaded .99 back on along with new versions of all my homebrew, but whenever i try to load up a game, it looks as though it will work, but then just sends me back to the e-menu. Can anyone tell me why thats happening and how to fix it?

Better to use HenC and devhook to emulate 1.5.
At least then you have full compatibility :D

Well my advice to any non-TA-082'ers out there, is if you can downgrade, do it.

Can someone clarify what I will be doing if I wanted to upgrade to 2.71 or 2.70 from a 2.6 bock eloader setup. If I use devhook will I be able to run the pbp's from the main PSP OS menu??? Like 1.5 users? Or what?

Also. Does anyone know if the new psp firmware 2.70 or 2.71 come with flash support and flash movie support.?

Guess What? I got it to work... for about a day. Yeah, so I finally got around to upgrading and loading on HEN-C and everything worked fine...

Until dropped my psp onto the floor :(. My UMD door got shifted crooked so now it won't close. I don't think anything actually broke, maybe just bent. I don't want to send it off to sony to get repaired cuz they'll probably update my firmware to like 3.00 or whatever we're up to nowadays  So yeah, I ended up with homebrew for about 1 day.

Anyone know how to fix a broken UMD door? Should i do it myself, or should i just send it away to get repaired?

Heh, I guess so. I'm just afraid, knowing my luck, that as soon as I try to open it something will go wrong and it will become irrepairable. :(. I heard about TechRestore. Is it worth it to send away for next day repair?
