ok recently my psp has been making a file called __TEMP__.elf in the root of my memory stick.
Anyone know what the problem is?
From what i remember it started after i first installed Dark_AleX's 2.71 se-a firmware, but it kept doing it even after i degraded to 1.5 again

It sounds like your using things that you shoulndt.

try downgrading to 1.0 then update to 1.5

i havent used any isos, if thats what your implying (but seriously, what else could it be)

If I'm not mistaken, it has something to do with the NesterJ emulator. I saw a few mentions of that program when I looked through the file.

Try upgrading to 2.00 and downgrading again to 1.50. I believe that the emulator wrote to your flash, and even if you delete the program from your memory stick it might continue with this problem.

Sounds like you dont have a clean version of the 1.50 firmware. Try to upgrade to 2.0 and downgrade to 1.50 or downgrade to 1.0 then upgrade to 1.50.

I have that same file in my root folder after using the generic 2.71 downgrader a few days ago. I use NesterJ, but it never did that before when I originally had 1.5 installed.

i didnt use nesterj after i upgraded to 2.71 SE-A (upgraded to 2.71 SE-A again and it seems to have fixed the problem this time, im very confused) mainly because the param is making the file corrupt, but also cause im playin kingdom hearts right now

I've removed NesterJ and deleted the file and the .elf file returns. :mad:

I was going to upgrade to 2.71 SE-A later today...

Will whatever this .elf file is have any effect on upgrading, since someone else suggested NesterJ wrote to the flash? :confused: I'm wondering if I should flash it to a clean 1.5 again before attempting it..

have you tried formatting your memory stick? or are there things you don't want to lose, cause you could always copy them to your comp

my psp did the same thing like twice about a week ago but then it stopped not sure why though. it was somewhere around the time i started using harley g's custom firmware, reinstalled devhook and installed ir shell. im leaning more towards the culprit being ir shell.

That's what the cause was for me I believe. I removed that and that file appearing stopped. I went ahead and installed the custom firware after that, though. :p
