you need 1.5 and you have to replace your backgrounds on x-flash with plain black ones to give the "black" psp theme

but you can also use the theme pack and make them all black.

I used x-flash for my all black theme and custom firmware to skip startup screen.There's something sexy about seeing a black gameboot screen with white psp letters :)
Once you go black you never go back :P

You can change your background to a plain black one that you you can make on your PC. You can't change the startup screen to black, though.
