View Full Version : Bunch of questions

I just bought my very first PSP, and I have some questions.
It is 2.50 version. Is it possible to play homebrew on this version or do I need to downgrade? If I downgrade and then change the Memory Stick, would I need to downgrade again? Which is the safest way to downgrade? What is DevHook?

I'm sure all of these have been asked before, but I'm new to PSP community and I would appreciate any help.

Your psp could possibly be a TA-082 check here

http://www.modchipstore.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=164

Devhook is a program for 1.5 users which allows them to go to 2.71 and come back down again

If your psp is not a TA-082 you can downgrade

No it isn't TA-082 (there are no numbers when I open the UMD). If you don't want to write, could you please post some links for safe downgrading (this is my first PSP and I would hate to brick it). Also why do people use DevHook (I thought 1.50 was better than 2.71 cause of the homebrew)?
Is it possible to play homebrew on 2.50?

and if you downgrade and change memory sticks you dont need to do it over. it uses the internal "flash" memory not the external stick.

EDIT: devhook allows you to play a umd that requires a psp with firmware above 1.5.

EDIT Number 2:http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=28181 theres an easy dowgrader for 2.5 or 2.6

You can update to 2.71

Can be found here :http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/525

place that in a update folder inside the game folder

here is the 2.71 easy downgrader can be found here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/755

Connect your PSP via USB, turn up your speakers, and run this Windows executable

iono, but i tried the 2.71 downgrade and it worked, one thing that the memory stick must be formmatted and add only the downdater and the downgrader.it worked for me

They say that the easy 2.71 downgrader is the safest

yeah it is, cause if it freezes in the pic, it doesn't do nothing, if sucessful , the screen turns red and it starts writing, then it turns off like normal, then when on the 5seconds of terror the psp goes normal....
trust me, i did and i was like so scared

So I update to 2.71 and then downgrade. Are there any instructions or do I just run the exe and wait till it finishes? Also is there a chance to brick my PSP using this downgrader? Also when I downgrade to 1.50, will I need to update and downgrade again to have a glitch-free version?

Thanx for the help people.

There is a chance that you can brick but when the red screen comes on after a while the psp will switch off leave it for about 5 mins just to be sure then switch it back on

If you READ and FOLLOW the instructions carefully you will be fine

So I just connect the PSP to my comp and let the downgrader do it's job, right? Also what about the glitch question?
