I have not played my dreamcast in 4 years, it's been in the storage room collecting dust particles. I decided to take it out and play it. Everything is fine with my Dreamcast but it won't actually play a game, It will manage to get past the SEGA Enterprises screen, then when the game loads, you will see SEGA,( The game is Sonic Adventures), When you see the SEGA logo, there is a bunch of pink dots around the screen, then the Dreamcast freezes at a black screen. I have 3 copies of Sonic Adventures and they all bring the same result.

All of these are original copies, one of them is badly scratched, one is sort of scratched, and one is brand new.

I just finished trying that technique, it didn't make any difference.

Have you tried running a homebrew game?

I hope it's not a defect BIOS, that would be bad.
Maybe open it and blow the dust out of it and look if all cable are correctly connected?

Ive tried running CD-R games, but I had no luck, I can still play music and such, and all the cables are connected.

i used a cd lens cleaner to get mine up and running when it cant read disks. does it make the horrible noise of the lens moving up and down when the disk spin? If not then it may be the gd rom unit broken.

It just makes the regular Dreamcast noise.

Hmm,
maybe it sounds stupid, but the easiest way is buy another one and change parts.

Sorry, that all other things didn't help :(

Lik Sang used to sell parts, know that their going out of buisness their probably gonna liqudate them or something so try their site if you think you have a broken part in your machine.

I think it's something with the BIOS, so getting another DreamCast and check the parts would be the cheapest.
Do you have a Bootchip in it?
