Kramer
October 25th, 2006, 15:37
If it just shutdown while updating you have a corrupted nand flash because the update was unable to finish.

does that happen every time? or its it just a chance that it can happen?

can happen if ac adapter is pulled out or battery is taken out during update or maybe when the update is being run from the umd disc if the disc is taken out that can cause it as well

wow, and there is no " revert to factory settings" ? i guess not then there would be more chance piracy and homebrew.... profits before customers eh

the jelly babies:
a "mod chip", is an actual computer chip that has to be installed into the psp it's self, i would guess that it would not the right solution for it.

best bet is to bring it back to the store, and hope that they are nice to you, if not ring sony. if your warranty is up, i'm sorry to say that could be it, legally they don't have to fix it.

If it was a hired game it could of been scratched and the update was corrupted on the umd.
Blame the video store, say that your umd stuffed my PSP up.

is there a master reset button?? xx

Darksaviour69
October 25th, 2006, 16:06
no, that would make life too easy (sony don't have it to stop users from downgrading, so they can use homebrew/warez, people like yourself get caught in the crossfire)

You should ring the sony support line

Good Idea you should do what he said

Also take the psp in with you when you do it

Do what I always do if I brick it. Some Best Buy employees think that the battery is non-removable. Take it to them and say your battery is on the fritz(mine was once actually), and that your psp wont start. Either that or tell them the truth, say that while it was updating it stopped and broke.

I find this very ironic for when I brick one I say it stopped updating and broke and they believe me. Now this is happening to somone else.

ok, what you need to do is find a wallmart. someone i know has done this many times. buy
a psp from wallmart, put the bricked one in the new psp box, and return it for your money back.

do you know anyone else who has a PSP Recepit and a PSP Box? Maybe one of your son's friends? What you could do is put the broke PSP into the box and take it to the store along wih the receipt... they have no choice but to refund you or give you a new PSP. Just say it stopped working all together.. dont even mention anything about updates.
Thats how I got my PS2 ;) Friends broke ps2 + brothers ps2 receipt and original box . Give it a try.

Are you from UK? Which store did you buy it from? I used that trick in GAME and it worked a charm
