Latest version of SE at time of writing this guide = 2.71 SE-B"

Things you'll need
-1.50 PSP
There are enough downgrading guides already so i'll let you find that if you don't have a 1.50 PSP already

-2.71 Special Edition - Revision B custom firmware (http://dax.st/271_SEB.RAR)
-2.71 Special Edition - Revision B' custom firmware (http://dax.st/271_SEB2.RAR)
-2.71 Special Edition - Revision B" custom firmware (http://dax.st/seb3.rar)
(If any of the above links dont work you can find the files at http://dax.st)

-1.50 Update Eboot
-2.71 Update Eboot
(You can get both of the above at http://www.psp-hacks.com)

Upgrading to 2.71 SE
1. Extract all the zip/rar archives to a memorable location (like your desktop)
2. Open the 271_SEB folder and copy the PSP folder from inside the NEWINSTALL folder to the root of your memorystick
3. In your PSPs GAME folder you should have a folder called 'seupdmaker', you want to rename the 1.50 update eboot from EBOOT.PBP to 150.PBP and the 2.71 update eboot from EBOOT.PBP to 271.PBP, then put both the 150.PBP and 271.PBP files into the seupdmaker folder
4. Run the SE Update Maker on your PSP
- After running the update maker it will check to make sure the DXAR file is valid NOTE:IF IT JUST SHUTS OFF WITHOUT CHECKING THE FILE YOU WILL NEED TO RUN THE UPDATE MAKER UNTIL IT FINISHES (finishes = checks the DXAR file then says auto restart in 5 seconds, or something along those lines)
5. Copy the DATA.DXAR file on your memory stick from the seupdmaker folder to the 271seflasher folder. Also you should make a folder in the root of your memory stick called ISO
6. Run the 2.71 SE-B Installer on your psp, after it has finished it should restart your PSP
7. Open the 271_SEB2 folder and copy the 'PSP' folder inside it to the root of your memorystick
8. Run the 2.71 SE-B2 Update on your PSP
9. Open the seb3 folder and copy the 'PSP' folder inside it to the root of your memorystick
10. Run the 2.71 SE-B3 Update on your PSP
11. You can now delete all of the extra folders and files created on your PSP (e.g. 'ISO' folder, '271seflasher' folder, DATA.DXAR file, etc) and delete all the folders/zips/rars from your PC EXCEPT the 271_SEB folder and the 1.50 update eboot

Setting a boot program and changing GAME folders
1. Im sure you know that your 1.50 homebrew needs to be in the GAME150 folder and game demos/2.71 Homebrew goes in the GAME folder. If you want to, you can change this, first, enter recovery mode (hold R on startup)
2. Go into the Configuration menu, select Game folder homebrew, then press X, this will change the game folder to run in 1.50 kernal, letting you put all your homebrew in the game folder, and demos in game271 folder (convinient if you had homebrew on your PSP before updating)
3. If you want an eboot to autoboot everytime you start your PSP, rename the folder it is in to BOOT (i.e. from irshell to boot)
4. In recovery mode, go into the Configuration menu, select Autorun program at /PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP, then press X. Now whenever you turn your PSP on it will automatically boot into whatever eboot is in the boot folder

Recovering a bricked PSP (Degrading back to 1.5)
1. If you ever need to degrade your PSP back to 1.50 cause you dont like 2.71 SE or you end up bricking it, enter recovery mode (hold R on startup) and activate USB
2. Open the 271_SEB folder on your PC and copy the RECOVERY folder inside the flasher for recovery folder to the GAME folder on your memorystick
3. Rename the 1.50 update eboot from EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP and place it inside the RECOVERY folder
4. Disable USB, highlight the option saying run program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP, and press X
