Not quite. When the second revision of the Wii is released sometime around the middle of next year, those consoles will be able to play DVD's. According to Nintendo, DVD support will never be available for the current versions of the console.

No big deal, though. As someone on the Nintendo forums said (paraphrasing here): "It's not like you have 7 DVD players lying around or anything."
