Reuters reports on cheaper (or traditional) $50 game prices for Wii reconfirming what Nintendo's been preaching regarding a desired increase in publisher returns. From the article: "The cheaper price may mask fatter profits for developers. Consumers buy Wii titles for 17 percent less than next-generation console games, but publishers say development costs for Wii are only half as much -- or less. THQ Inc. Chief Executive Brian Farrell said that investment in a next-generation video game can run roughly $12 million to $20 million, while a title for the Wii could be in the $5 million to $8 million range."

Assuming motion controls reach critical mass combined with said fatty profits, this is sure to foster more third-party support than Nintendo previously had with the GameCube, no?

lets hope the devs get more money because in the end - they are the ones that deserve the cash the most, especially if there game has been worked on for a long time and really shines, gameplay wise. this could be a very smart move from ninty, drawing in devs with the lure of cheaper and easier dev costs.
