Nintendo's DS Lite has outfoxed Sony's PlayStation Portable in many areas, but one sector where the PSP has trumped time and again is music. All that is set to end now as Nintendo has added MP3 capabilities to the DS.

Users of the Nintendo DS will now be able to do much more with their handhelds than just play games. Starting 8th December 2006, Nintendo fans can use their handhelds as music players as well. Users can listen to 150 of their selected songs on the DS courtesy a 512MB SD memory card.

The information pertaining to the song being played will be displayed on the screen of the Nintendo DS. The Nintendo MP3 Player can also jell with the Game Boy Advance SP and Game Boy Micro. The additional update is will be available across Europe for £20.

How will this 512MB SD card attach to the DS? Will Nintendo be making a flash cart?
