View Full Version : The Weekend Debate Future Multiplayer

March 30th, 2012, 16:40
Heres the latest news from the PSN Team:

So the weekend is upon us and chances are you and I are going to play some games. Who know, we may even end up playing together.
Multyiplayer has always been at the heart of console games, whether it’s sharing a screen in Streets of Rage, splitting that screen for a Timesplitters session or joining 255 other players on the online battlefield in MAG.
Recently we’ve some wonderful examples of what is being referred to as asynchronous multiplayer, with games like MotorStorm RC (http://eu.playstation.com/psn/games/detail/item435267/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g) and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (http://eu.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item310363/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g) using leaderboards to stir up competition among friend without the need to all be online at the same time. And just this week, we’ve seen players intervening from a completely different game, on a completely different platform, in DUST 514 (http://eu.playstation.com/psn/games/detail/item379479/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g).
So this week’s debate (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/tag/the-weekend-debate/) is:

What is the future of multiplayer?
The 15 best comments as decided by our independent judge will receive a voucher code for Wrecked, the spiritual successor to one of my favourite ‘couch multiplayer’ games, Mashed (http://eu.playstation.com/ps2/games/detail/item35542/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g). The codes will be sent by Tuesday next week in a private message at http://community.eu.playstation.com (http://community.eu.playstation.com/). Bear in mind that you need to have logged into that site at least once to enable PMs for us to be able to send the code.
