New submitter thunderdanp writes with news that a company called Worlds Inc. has filed a patent suit against Activision Blizzard (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/worlds-inc-files-patent-infringement-lawsuit-against-activision-blizzard-inc-blizzard-entertainment-inc-and-activision-publishing-inc-2012-04-05), targeting World of Warcraft and the Call of Duty series. The patents in question describe a "System and Method for Enabling Users to Interact in a Virtual Space (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=8082501.PN.&OS=PN/8082501&RS=PN/8082501)." Worlds Inc. is quite glad that "their" technology has "helped the businesses of virtual worlds gaming and the sale of virtual goods to grow into a multibillion-dollar industry" — but now they want a cut.
