Like splodger said in the previous post find our whether you have the proper motherboard first.

well from here you can do several things, you can upgrade to 2.71 and use devhook( no iso's) to run homebrew or downgrade to 1.5 fw, there are several tutorials on this forum, i followed some advice from several people and now have a fw 2.u71 SE-B'' which is great for runninhg homebrew and emulators, and also still lets me play my newer UMD's that i've bought.

@ Axis, tried to PM you with a link but cant so i'll just edit this post and leave a link to a tutorial here...http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=42251

Whats the chances of bricking my PSP if I upgrade or down grade?

Then you can downgrade.Any time you flash your psp there is a chance of bricking. It's worth the risk though as many of us here know.I had a 1.5 psp which I have now upgraded to 2.71SEB",it really is the best.I'm a convert now :P

So would you say the 2.71SEB is better than the 1.5?

What sort of homebrew stuff is available?;)

you should make your own opinion about what is better 1.5 or 2.71se
im using devhook on 1.5
and this homebrew
bookr (pdf reader)
scummvm (play old lucasarts games)
pep viewer (picture viewer good for comics)
im 100% happy with 1.5

every time a app writes to the flash of the psp it could potentially brick
even official sony updates can brick a psp
make shure your battery is 100% charged and keep the power supply plugged in the whole time while using a app that writes to the flash
such as downdaters,updaters,installers,flash customizers

You should install custom firmware
