Hi!

I've been running my psp on 1.50 from the start and its been great with the addition of Devhook 4.6 I’ve been able to play everything and keep my home brew stuff running. :D

I've just received my new 4GB memory card today and its not working correctly.
The psp can see the card and knows how big it is but i can’t run the stuff id normally be able to run using my 1 GB card. So is it a problem with 1.50 not being able to access the 4gb?

Anyone have any solutions to my problem?

Is it a genuine 4gb card? There are a lot of fakes out there. Also what actually happens when you put the card in? can you see all the contents? and what happens when you try and run? any errors?

Hate to sound condesending, but are you loading DevHook from the 1GB card and then replacing it with the 4GB card?

Hi ExInferis,

Its not a fake. 100% Sony
Some of the smaller games will work, it just seems to be the bigger stuff over 600Mb that doesnt.

I get no errors just a black screen and the card reader ligth stops flashing on the psp. I can press start and drop back down into the PSP launcher.

I can access the card no problem through my psp with a usb cable. its shows its a 4GB and i can see all the file/directory strucktures.

Im loading dev hook from the 4GB card that also contains the data basically the same setup as I had on my 1gb card.

Shhhhh!!! dont mention the i word, they dont like that word around here

If the same things work on the 1gb card and dont work on the 4gb card i'd say there must be a problem with the card. Try filling the card up and reading all the files back off onto your pc. If that gives a read error or hangs then your card is faulty and you should get it replaced. If there are no errors then im afraid im stumpped.

it's a fake card; try copying files onto the 4GB stick to completely use up all the space and try copy it back to your PC.. if it ends up being corrupted data then you've proven my point.

There are some good guides on ebay for spotting fake memory sticks (about 99% of memory sticks on ebay are fake!). I've seen some really good fakes and they are dead cheap but usually slow as hell!

Its a fake! I cant believe it! yet another ebay sucker! lol! im gonna print some car stickers!

I did what you said and tried filling it then copying it back off and its fails :(

On a good note that fake guide is so good! hats off 2 the people who put it together!

Its got a fake box, its not etched, and the type face is sketchy.

Is anyone interested in buying a fake 4gb pro Duo? I'll chuck in a original Da Vinci sketch for good measure! ;)

it may not be a fake stick.
i have been getting some similar problems with the double expand memory adaptor and it suffers from a similar thing. (on a side note im seriously disapointed in the double expand - the slightest crash and bang the card gets corrupted - same if i remove the stick while in standby, and sometimes even when powered down - anyway sucky product)

anyway if you formatted the stick via the psp then it is a fake and/or faulty but if you used your pc then check to see what format the stick is - windows formats it to fat32 by default but change it to regular fat and see what happens. my psp doesnt like the 2gig being in fat32 - strange i know.

I bought my 4gb stick from Success-HK. Works like dream (is a Sandisk, not Sony). I'd NEVER buy a memory stick off of ebay.

Try Anger's suggestion before busting the guy who sold it to you.

Thats because Success Hk do not sell fakes, Ebay has quite alot of them

Don't be dissing eBay dudes, I've bought like 6 MS from eBay and never had a problem. The people buying the stuff need to be more careful to avoid the rip-off merchants.

You can tell who the rip off merchants are because they have poor feedback

That and the dodgy images they put on. Plus if it is insanely cheap and buy-it-now, then alarm bells really should ring.

poor verve i feel sorry for you

the first memstick i bought was a sony 1GB 55€ in a store called mediamarkt
then i found out that the webshops are selling these for less
so i browsed around the net and i found a site where i ordered a 2GB SANDISC stick for 69€
it seems to be a bit slower than the original sony stick but its ok

now im looking for a new memstick and i wanna know whats the maximum capacity on a 1.5 psp?

i heard that 8GB sticks work on psp but guess not with my 1.5

Yeah Ebay is prety cool! I've bought plenty and have pulled in some good deals! But with the memory card scene being the way it is its pretty difficult to know if you have bought a fake one until it arrives. At the end of the day it all comes down to the sellers honesty and knowledge. But even then perhaps the seller isn't aware that the card is a fake. Anyway, as for my seller, still waiting for an email back. I don’t want to have to go through all the agro of chasing my money up via ebay and paypal. And as for paypal they will take the first £25 of the money returned for an admin charge! lol! I don’t know who is worse the dodgy seller or paypal! However I look at it im down on my cash.

No problem - I'm using a standard Sandisk 4GB (bought for 110 bucks - NOT on ebay) on a 1.5 (Dark Alex's proof of concept custom) PSP and everything is fine so far (two weeks).:)
