I've had a good play with IRshell today and Id advise you to go down the WIFI route rather than the usb! Unless you have a really long usb cable! if your going to sit infront of your computer with a usb cable plugged into you psp you might aswell use windows to manage your files! but using wifi i can understand people putting up with the FM in IRshell! Anything to get out of having to walk down the stairs!! Good luck!

If you need to use USB over WIFI because you don't have wireless,

Download USBhostFS
Run IRShell
PLug in your USB at your PSP and PC
Place the USBhostFS exe file plus all the other files in your X drive
(now this is where I am unsure)
In IRShell, click on the usb host fs button, NOT just the USB option
On the pc, you should get a pop up saying "Found new hardware, PSP type B"
Select "not this time"
click next and click "select driver personally", or something like that
find USBhostFS.exe and double click.
let it run and i dont know anything after that, but its most of it.

EDIT: just found this: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/about40419.html
hope it helps
Sorry!
