Hey there,

I just bought a Dreamcast and according to some info it won't read burned CDRs...and then some other info says it will..

It was manufactured October 2000 and it has the number 2 in a circle.

http://www.dcemulation.com/article-supported.htm

The above site says that all dreamcasts play CDRs..

I have the:
Regular DC Console
HKT-3020
China, and the letters WK
670-14081N
October 2000 & letters WK

So can anyone give me a definitive answer?

Thanks :)

If it has a 2 I don't think it can read CD-Rs, but I heard it works for some so just try it.

btw: 99% of CD's will work, however CD-RWs will not.

If it's PAL it will, I wasted 5 CD-R's before I got anything booting on mine (bloody laptop) so don't give up Straight away. If you got a non-compatable one go buy another DC (or treamcast) it's well worth it for the homebrew.

I burned Nester DCSE and it wouldnt boot. Also tried a Utopia 1.3 bot disk..still nothing..

I know the images were good, because I could open them in Chankast.

Oh well...I got the DC from a used video game store, so hopefully they will let me exchange it.

Thanks anyways

Nope, Utopia boot disk wouldnt load. I only tried the Utopia boot disk to test if it could read CD-Rs.

what program are you burning the cds with, also try a different dc-r type, some cheap ones don't work

I used Bootdreams to burn the .cdi image. It burned at 4x. I know the disk burned correctly, because I could open it from Chankast.

So I am trading my DC in from where I bought it...hopefully they wont give me hell for looking at the labels.

So I took it back just now, and the 3 other DCs on the shelf all had 1999 as the year it was manufactored. Its kind of funny that I picked the one dreamcast that was not compatible... :P

It's all good now.

Depending on where you bought it, chances are pretty good that the person working there will understand exactly why you're trading it in.

If they don't, tell them that you want to play Bleemcast on it, and that may help them understand.

They were pretty cool there. All the people behind the counter had their own dreamcast for homebrew. And they said people come in all the time and buy them just for that. :)

Glad you got that sorted, I love my Dreamcast, I'm just sorry I missed the whole homebrew scene for it :(

There's still psx4all DC to look forward to tho :) any word on that recently??

The store is called Preplayed

I think it might just be a used videogame chain in Wisconsin, USA

What city? I may pick one up from their. After EB Games and Gamestop stoped carrying dreamcast stuff, I am unable to find anything anywhere. I even asked the Gamecrazy guys. Loosy corperate take overs...

Edit:

Never Mind, I googled it...

Looks like I'm headed to the Casino after all... GO Pack... How many will you loose...

(For those who are not in the know... There is an Indian Casino near the store location.)
