View Full Version : Just got a FREE DreamCast, what can i do with it?

i got a dreamcast in summer and it's laying in my room for a while now, i heard u can hack it and stuff.

how do i do it? or what features is there? can it be used as a CD player? or something? what can i do with it?

PS*im a psp hacker and i have 1.5 emu 3.01 so im not a total noob at games!

You can play standard CDs with it, and there's an NES emulator available that it will run.

thx for the info, but how do i put files to my DC? lol this question seems really STUPPID..... or can i go online with it?
so does the DC suport .mp3? or .mp4? is there any app that does it? what are some MUST HAVE apps i must have?

do i need a certain version to work these?

The DC dosen't have a HDD so you will need CDRs, if you look at the back of your DC and it has a 1 with a circle around it you can run CDs on it. You can go online with either the 56K modem or the Network adapter, you will need a browser like Planet web or XDP to do that.

you will have to burn your mp3 collection with software that supports DVD's. Also there are divx players with limited support. What makes the Dreamcast scene so great isnt the applications though, really its the home brew games and emulators.

You can play games.
Jet Grind Radio is my personal favorite (on Dreamcast and of all time.)
Rez is good, although wasn't released in the US.
Homebrew is good, NES and SNES emulators are my favorites.

Can you hook the psp up to an HDTV though? I thought not ;).
