When was the first PSP exploit? I have a PS3 at 1.10 firmware and I am holding off on upgrading the firmware because I'm holding my breathe that an exploit might be found. I cannot go online if I do not upgrade my firmware so I cannot download the new demos and I am thinking of upgrading. I was wondering when the first PSP exploit came and how long was it after PSP was released?

The PSP was released in the US in Feb. 2005 and the first exploit showed via wipeout pure (i.e. web browser hack) in March 2005. Currently on the PS3 there is homebrew being created...but it's all in linux

Yah I know I can get Linux and stuff but the programs there are limited and can't utilize the full power of the PS3. That's why I don't want to upgrade yet. Thanks for that info Andrew Gabriel. It gives me hope.

There were homebrew apps before the Wipeout browser hack. But the first major exploit was the KXploit tool, which let all 1.5 users have homebrew.

I'm holding my breath that a pretty good exploit comes out for PS3. I've already heard that a devhook type of program is in the works and the firmware update isn't that enticing right now. I'll give it some time.

The rumour that there is a devhook type program in the works isn't true if you ask me because you first need an exploit. My advice is if you have no use for the update then don't update.
