Allright I'm buying meself a new psp, and now I've been reading all this shit bout the so called TA-086 motherboard or something like that. So I don't want to end up with buying one of those psps:) So I wondered since I can't open the psp box to check the UMD drive in the shop without buying it, is there a way to check if it got a TA-086 on the outside of the box? I no you can check what FW it got on the outside but newer heard if u can check if it's a TA-086 or not??:D

There is a code on the box that looks like CEL PSP-1004K on the box near the bar code. As long as that letter is K or earlier you should be good for downgrading etc.

Although you cannot downgrade a TA-086 or a TA-082

Check ebay

Not much is known about these motherboards, except you cannot downgrade below a certain firmware, which hasn't been cracked yet. TA-82 Motherboards haven't been cracked either.

You're best bet is to find a downgradable one on Ebay.

I believe SucessHK (or whatever it's called) sells 1.52 PSPs, and that's were Video_freak got his.
