can i use this without having 2.71SE-C because i had 2.80 then i got it back from my friend and it was 2.81 so i went ahead and upgraded it to 3.0. so my question is, can i still install this. i want homebrew sooooo bad lol

shedeus
December 22nd, 2006, 02:43
your at 3.0? dont think this is of any use to you until a downgrader comes along.

what about for HEND users?

de.silva89
December 22nd, 2006, 02:44
LilSwish722, sorry but there is no possible way of getting homebrew or this for that matter on the psp :S

Hate You Dark Alex!!!!!!!!!!!!

LilSwish722
December 22nd, 2006, 02:47
god. that sucks. is it because it requires a kernal to install. because i saw the readme and it said it needed to be placed in the 1.50 GAME folder. but now that we got this, does that mean a downgrader is coming soon? or if not, how long will it be

blackrave
December 22nd, 2006, 02:47
This is so unbelievably superb! Didn't see this coming at all! This has been a great week so far for all homebrew.

I will give this a try, either today or tomorrow. It still has support for 1.00 eboots, right? It was a little unclear at that point. LocationFree Player and Korean fonts don't matter at all for me.

I'm a little worried about getting blue screens, though. I wonder if they can come right in the middle of a game?

Thanks Dark Alex, Mathieulh and HarleyG!

Someone answer my question. now that this has been released does this mean we can have a downgrader soon. and whats this about a 3.02 Kernal. I missed that news. when did we get access to that

de.silva89
December 22nd, 2006, 02:53
its not 3.02 kernal, its 1.50 kernal with 3.02 over the top

de.silva89
December 22nd, 2006, 02:54
and it does not mean in any way that there will soon be a downgrader, this has nothing to do with downgrading

ryanMWolfe
December 22nd, 2006, 02:54
DARTH paul

Does IB have increased speed???

Gizmo356
December 22nd, 2006, 02:55
No until there is a way to run user mode homebrew on a 3.0 there is no chance for a downgrader

de.silva89
December 22nd, 2006, 02:57
probably, sorry 'bout that LilSwish

LilSwish722
December 22nd, 2006, 02:58
lol. its okay. but i mean would there be any chance. because for some reason i remember reading about a 3.02 kernal. so idk. maybe im imaging things. either way GREAT work DAX

EDIT:: This was in the readme. this is what im talking about. " OE runs all homebrew from the /PSP/GAME302 folder using the 3.02 kernel. "

DarthPaul
December 22nd, 2006, 02:58

de.silva89
December 22nd, 2006, 03:11
sorry, its just i did have that problem and when i reset it worked... it may have been that the dxar file got corrupt along the code somewhere.

Please everyone lets keep everything orderly in this thread.

Attention Users

You all must know that this is the first of Dark_alex'es release of 3.02 OE-A. You have to be aware that this isnt going to be perfect, and im pretty sure that this is very buggy and still in development.

With this being said please do not flame the release and give it time. If it doesnt work out for you now just downgrade back to 1.5 or 2.71 se-c.

Also do not post a "spam like" comment by just saying a word or two, please be productive when posting.

Creating the DXAR file
----------------------

- Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME/ if you are using 1.50 firmware and to
/PSP/GAME150 if you are using whatever version of 2.71 Se.

- Get the 1.50 and 3.02 sony updaters in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "302.PBP".

- Run the program. This program won't write to the flash, it will just create a file called DATA.DXAR in the
same directory (oeupdmaker).

- The program will verify that the SHA-1 of the generated file is correct.

- Once that you have done this, you can save the DATA.DXAR file to skip this step in the future.

SHA1 of DXAR: BB43B06852826F446CCA933927C3D54C50E151B1
MD5 of DXAR: 5BD5DE55204BB8A407C0187C3DA1040C

Flashing 3.02 OE
----------------

- Copy the directories oeflasher and oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME (or /PSP/GAME150 if you are on 2.71 SE)

- Copy the generated DATA.DXAR file at oeflasher directory.

- Run the flasher. If your battery is less than 75%, the program will show the error saying that
and will return to the XMB.

At petition of someone with battery problems, now this check can be by passed at your own risk;
Execute the program with triangle and L pressed.

- The program will continue showing an agreement. Press X to accept
it and flash the custom firm, or R to cancel and exit to the XMB.

- If you accept, the program will flash the custom firmware. DONT shutdown the psp and DON'T
quit the memory stick.

- After finished, shutdown the psp and restart manually... to 3.02 OE :)

1. does 2.71 se work on TA-082 motherboards. 2. Also, can 2.71 se do reverse devhook to emulate 1.5 so that homebrew can be used. 3. Finally if it can do reverse devhook, can the emulated 1.5 play things like the GBA emulators?

1. No, not yet. It may if reverse devhook can be changed to load 2.71SE, and you'd need to be at 2.71 to do it (also, hen d is needed).

2. 2.71SE doesn't need it. It plays all homebrew.

3. Yes, but 2.71SE does the same thing.

And yes TA-82s are available in the US. TA-86s aren't yet, I believe.

Yep, I used a Japanese 3.02 eboot and a North American 1.50 eboot, and those worked perfect together.

Can I flash this onto my 2.71 SE-B" that has custom backgrounds and a custom font flashed on it by X-flash, or do I need to get a clean fw first?

No, you don't need to get a clean firmware. I flashed straight over all my custom stuff and it works great. I have the default gameboot, fonts and sounds now, though. But come to think of it, it could have been what was causing my blue screens.

If you get those, just restore the default system settings by pressing circle.

First, this custom firmware is perfect, keep it up. But I find it funny how the PS3 has turned into a PS1 downloading machine for PSP. How about leaving the PS3 out of the mess Sony? I hate when companies force you to buy other products of theirs to enjoy the one you already bought.

Anyone know where I'm supposed to put the recovery file which came in the 302oe rar?

Yeah drop it into ms0/psp/game

and then put the 1.50 eboot in it but rename it to "update" im doing it again, i cant seem to get the 2nd PSP to run it properly, the system software is displayed as a load of kanji this time, oh well.

-EDIT- Have found the problem with the web browser and the kanji on the system settings, it would appear that I also had the region of the PSP "faking" a european one (ya, I know im stupid)didnt quite read it properly, there is a "disable" option, doh. Hope that may help anyone in a similar situation.

the 3.02 extract does take longer than 1.50 extract. I have seen this process be very slow on certain brands of memory cards. As an example, I had 1 card do it in like 3 minutes and another take 20 mins. Maybe you just need to wait a little longer eggman

Yeah, all you have to do is put the emulators you want into a folder clled "GAME150" in the same directory as "GAME, PHOTO" etc and you can run them from the XMB, there are other ways of doing this, but I find this easiest.

I keep getting those BSOD at the system settings and internet browser, and the homebrew doesnt work.

But I was impatient and forced the battery thing. . . I'm gunna try reflashing.

EDIT

No luck :( . Same problem. I guess i'll just have to recover to 1.50 and do the whole 2.71 SE process again. . .

so can you use your own backed up ps1 games with this or do you still need a ps3///....?

i sound like a noob now lol :(,. im confused

Apparently you can use the ps1 eboots and they now won't pe specific to the PSP that downloaded it. But you can't play the .img/.bin.iso files as far as I know.

It all began so simple, come with me if you will. Flashback a year ago. I was online looking for a translation for Tenchu on the PSP as all the text was in Japanese. I found the translation, and then some. On the bottom of the page was video tutorial of how to run Nester J on the PSP, naw. I linked to it and low and behold some chap had the blasted 8-bit Nintendo on the PSP!!!. After a rocky start I got it running too. I was awestruck, my friends could not conceal their envy(still can't).It's like your first kiss ya know? Well I've been in front of my keyboard ever since and now look. Did you ever think that one firmware would launch homebrew, backup UMD files and the current update!!! Friends, we are a part of a Rennassaince, a new era in gaming if you will. All the props go to Dark Alex, Mathieulh and HarleyG, this s**t is freakin' amazing!!!!!! Thank You

Use the recovery menu to launch the EBOOT in Game\RECOVERY and put the 1.50 update file in the same folder and name it UPDATE.PBP and the other recovery files come with the 3.02 OE rar file. It'a all in the readme.

I dont know if this has already been posted by anyone, but I just updated and was having trouble with homebrew and was getting the blue screen when I tried accessing the System Settings. Then I realized I had a UMD in the drive, so I popped it out, tried loading the System Settings again, it crashed as usual, however I was able to restart with the O button and upon reboot I was able to reverify my settings and now everything works like a charm.
