BogenDorpher writes with news that Microsoft has officially introduced Windows Phone 8 (http://www.winbeta.org/news/windows-phone-8-announced-during-microsofts-windows-phone-summit). The new version of their mobile operating system will bring support for processors with up to 64 cores (http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/20/windows-phone-8-to-support-multi-core-cpus-hd-resolutions/), as well as resolutions higher than 800x480 — up to 1280x768. It will also include better support for NFC and microSD cards (http://venturebeat.com/2012/06/20/windows-phone-8-revealed/#s:windows-phone-8-start). One important thing to note is that Windows Phone 8 won't be coming to current Windows Phone devices (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57456655-94/no-windows-phone-8-upgrade-for-current-devices/).
