View Full Version : [2.71/ TA-802] Homebrew?

I just got a PSP running firmware 2.71 and with IC1003 written on the motherboard (that means a TA-802 board, right?)

I've done quite a bit of research on the subject, and after coming to the realization that 2.71 downgrades are not available at this time, I was saddened. However, I do know homebrew enabler runs most games.

My questions to you are:

1. What is the best bet for my system? Should I try homebrew enabler D or is there another alternative?

2. What types of games can you run on henD? What emulators can it run? Does it automatically come with emulators, or does it just allow emulators to run? What are henD's limitations with regards to running homebrew?

3. What is the possibility of bricking the PSP when trying to download henD or other programs. I've heard that simple things like changing your background or theme can cause bricking if your downloading henD, is this true?

Thanks for taking the time out to help a PSP noob :D , sorry for so many questions, but I'd rather get this done without having a bricked PSP...

hen-d has the smallest chance in this world of bricking, any help, then contact me on one of the messengers. i use hen d and devhook and there are no limitations to homebrew, you just cant use custom firmwares because of the mother board..

I'm using this (http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-hacks-9/t-guide-homebrew-enabler-and-devhook-for-271-installation-72495.html) walkthrough, where can I find a 1.50 dump for DevHook? Thanks :) ...

^^Thanks madcat, but I found one about 4:00 this morning >_<

How do I get homebrew working once I've installed henD and devHook? I can't find a walkthrough for ones running henD, and whenever I try to run the NES emulator (NESTER) I put on it, it says file corrupted...

What should my firmware thingy say?

It says 2.71 HEN-D right now...

Do I run DevHook 0.4x launcher for 2.71 again?

Thats what it says....

When I go and click on Nester, it says:

The data is corrupt.

ouchie lol, try to use devhook to emulate to 1.5 then try again

what you need is 1.5 dump, and devhook 0.4x port to hen d

0.4x port is here http://dax.lan.st/devlauncher271_2.rar

and 1.5 dump youll find here www.psp-hacks.com

after you get the rar extract eveything to your root then put the 1.5 dump in Ms0/dh/150

then with hend enabled go to game menu>0.4x launcher

then go to firmware select 1.50 then go to start

MAKE SURE NESTER IS FOR HEN D BEFORE YOU DO ALL THAT

I already did all of that...

Whenever I go to select 1.5 and then start in devHook the psp turns off...

Whenever it's turned back on the system settings says it is Version 2.71.

Do you got the 1.5 dump in the 150 folder?

yeah these have to go inside Ms0\dh\150 not Ms0\150 folder and overwrite anything it asks you too

Okay... now to I need to run the henD image file, then go to devhook and set? Also, how do I know if the nester is for HenD? Thanks.

EDIT:

Okay, I ran henD again from photo, then ran devhook. It cleared all my settings (is this normal, and will it do this every time?) and now my version reads 1.5...

I have a rom (in zip format) saved in the _SCE_NESTERJ but I can't browse that folder from the psp :/ ...

DOUBLE EDIT:

Okay, I got it working, thank you so much!

Just a couple more questions ;)

Do I have to run henD (the photo thingy) each time I want to play? Do I have to run the devhook thing each time as well? Will this constantly reset my settings? Also, I'm assuming to get internet back I go to devhook and change my version, is this correct.

Also, is there any way to zoom in on the games to make them bigger? Mario is only taking about 1/3 of the screen.

Again, thank you so much for getting this working for me.
