I have made a pack of some backgrounds for popular PS1 games, FF7, FF8, FF9, Chrono cross to name but a few.
Mostly my work but some from others, credit where credit is due.

How to use them is in the Read me file.

To disable the annoying PIC0.PNG (HotShots)image.
Create a new *blank* text file and then rename it "PIC0.PNG"
Rename "new.txt" to "pic0.png" to make your own.
Then include it with your other custom icons.

what are the files types needed for each pictures and dimensions of each and what do they change. Im guessing ICON.png whatever is the smaller icone to the left but what do the other 2 change. I'm interested in making my own. thank you.

Icon0 = 144 x 80
Pic1 = 480 x 272
pic0 aka unknown.png = 310 x 180

Dootiez use pspbrew.

Toxent make sure they are the right sizes as shown above.

I wasnt that satisfied with the Symphony of the night logo that came in the pack so I made this one, but the background one is pretty much perfect :D

Can't wait to see what other icons people come up with, its a good chance for homebrew users who cant program to get creative :D

Someone please do a Tactics Ogre and Spiderman 2 one. I am going to try to do these myself anyway once I have found decent pictures and know the correct measurements. I will also fix it so each game saves to a different folder instead of just the Hotshots one. When I am done I will have seperate games with custom icons and seperate folders on my 4GB. :thumbup:

Does anyone know what size the PIC1.PNG should be? I tried using the icon pack and every time I'm about to make the eboot, it keeps saying that the image size is too large.

yeah, sorry guys, ive had a few probs with some of the ames pics, will be sorting them out very soon (tonight) i thnk they have to be under 300ish Kb for the PIC1.PNG, i havent had any trouble with the ICON0.PNG (yet).
As i said, its work in progress, ill try getting all the ones people have requested done tonight and upload them later, will include the ones by broonale and micronut if they dont mind.

I have figured it out!! It has some restriction of image file size ! Don't know how much in Kb it has to be, but icon no more than 16kB I think!

I have the Chrono Cross ICON0.ONG at just over 30kb's and it works well, it seems it just a case of me trying them out to see if they work well or not.


when you get a chance could someone try to make a "Treasures of the Deep" icon set? I cant get the sizes right

To get the size down, use photoshop and set the mode to 8 bits/channel instead of 16.

Hey, folks I think its total file size that matters.
I have narrowed it down to 290-300 kb total.

I have tried some of the other icons being shared in
the forums and any of them that are more than 300kb will not compile.

You can use a 0kb PIC0.png file to give more space to the icon and background images
Just drop it into the folder with the other icons you have created.

Make the PIC0.png out a blank txt file and it will not be displayed.


and micronut if they dont mind
I dont mind... but I will probably try and make them look a little better over time...

Oh, and it looks like mikebeaver also narrowed down the icon file size problem earlier too :P

Nice Gunntims0103 ill update the zip file as your ICON0 looks better than the one I found, recognise that PIC1 though :).
Looks like this could be a useful thread over time, especially if everyone helps towards it.

Just use the PIC0.PNG from one of the ones in the download, there all the same for every game.

If you plan on using PIC0.PNG for anything this wont help you but:

You can use a 0kb PIC0.png file to give more space to the icon and background images

(Yea, a whole 4kb!)

If you make the PIC0.png out a blank txt file it will not be displayed.

As for PIC1.PNG
I suggest resampling the source picture
I have done this many times using ADCSee without
any loss in quality from a decent resolution picture

edit: new version uploaded. Now will install cygwin permanently to your computer if it detects that it isn't installed (assuming you have Windows XP), and has better handling of long directories. Still, avoid using spaces in dirs (not a limitation of mine). Make sure you put the Hot Shots Golf stuff in "hook", also.

Looks really good.
I really like the sidebar you have using the PS logo.
I have been trying to find one that looks good.
The way I resize the pics to fit without distorting the image is giving me layout headaches.

I will probably update all the images with sidebars once I have one or two that I really like.

I don’t like using the sidebar at all.
So I avoid it when ever I can.
Covers like CC, CastleV and Expendable look so much better without it.

I am trying to get the layouts to look good with the Icon Layered over the Background image.

lol I have been using cdcovers.cc for almost all the images.
Google Images works too and there is one other awesome cover site I cant recall right now.
I will post it later as an edit.

Has anyone had problems with game music that loads from the CD? I have ripped Ridge Racer and the music will not play for some reason, although games where it is imbedded in the program (FF7, Chrono Cross etc) seem to work fine, any ideas?

I am having the same issues with music, most notable with Rogue Trip and Twisted Metal 3. Hopefully there is a fix.

If you want you can include this icon during the initial converstion from .ISO to .PBP:
(Right Click Save As) pic0.png (http://www.fullburn.com/PIC0.png)
To remove the HotShots overlay.

I also cleaned up the images a bit.

It wont open in a new window you must save it as a file.

To make your own:
Simply create a new *blank* txt file and then rename it "PIC0.PNG"
Rename "new.txt" to "pic0.png" to make your own.
Simply include it with your other custom icons.

If you dont see file extentions like .doc or .txt or .xls when creating new Word, Text or Excel documents
This can be enabled by going to [Tools->Folder Options-> View - Then uncheck Hide Extention for Known File Types]
Find Tools at the top of any folder window.

Or open Notepad, then save the file using Save As using this file name "PIC0.PNG" with the quotes.

Or use the PIC0.PNG file located in the pspicons.zip file I linked to on page 2 of this thread.
