Files / Tools you will need -

3.02 OE-A Pack (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46711)
Clean 1.5 Firmware Eboot (http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4)
Clean 3.02 Firmware Eboot (http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/937)
A NON TA-082 PSP!

NOTE: Your PSP will need to be 1.50 or using the 2.71 SE firmware to be able to do this
__________________

Once you have downloaded these files, extract them all to a new folder. Preferably on the desktop for ease of use.

Place your 1.50 and 3.02 eboots inside the "oeupdmaker" folder, with the names "150.PBP" and "302.PBP"

Like this -

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/9131/example1ib7.gif

You will then need to copy the "oeupdmaker" folder and the "oeupdmaker%" to your PSP. If you're using 1.50, then copy them to your "GAME" folder, if you're using 2.71 SE-A, B or C, then they need to go into the "GAME150" folder.

Run this program, it DOES NOT FLASH your PSP. It will create a file called "DATA.DXAR". Copy this file into the folder called "302oeflasher" on your computer
NOTE: Lots of people have problems with this stage, make sure your 1.50 eboot is called "150.PBP" and your 3.02 eboot is called "302.PBP".

Back-up everything on your memory stick, then format. Extra safety precaution.

Copy over the "302oeflasher" and "302oeflasher%" folders to the PSP, into either the "GAME" folder, or the "GAME150" depending on your firmware version

Make sure your PSP battery is fully charged, then run the program

Alternately, plug-in your charger, then run the program, then hold down the L and Triangle button to bypass the battery check and go to the flashing stage

Accept the agreement and begin to flash your new firmware! If you have followed this method word for word you should no troubles. You will need to restart your PSP manually (hold the power button until it turns off, then turn on again) after the program has finished.

Check your System Firmware, welcome to OE-A!

3.02 OE-B update pack (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46998)

NOTE: You MUST MUST MUST update to 3.02 OE-A before doing this

Create a folder on your PSP named "GAME150" inside the folder named "PSP"
Extract the archive and place the folder named "OEB_UPDATE" into "GAME150"
Run the program and laugh at how quick it is and the file named "popcorn.prx" that appears when you run it :)

UltraISO (http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/) or Alcohol 120% (http://www.alcohol-soft.com/) to rip the game from disc. People are reporting problems with other programs, stick to these two, they're very reliable (in .ISO, .BIN or .IMG format)
Popstation, which comes inside the OE-B pack
cygwin1.dll (http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?cygwin1)
Hot Shots Golf 2 from the Playstation Store. You can purchase it from the Playstation 3 store.
DON'T ASK FOR HOT SHOTS GOLF 2 ANYWHERE IN THIS THREAD
DON'T ASK FOR HOT SHOTS GOLF 2 ANYWHERE IN THIS THREAD
DON'T ASK FOR HOT SHOTS GOLF 2 ANYWHERE IN THIS THREAD

NOTE: Your PSP must be OE-B for this to work!
__________________

Put your PSOne disc in the drive and start UltraISO or your program of choice
Save the disc-image as either .ISO, .BIN or .IMG in the popstation folder. People have different results with each format so I recommend you try it with each format! Make sure it is uncompressed and a perfect copy! Make sure you have no other programs running whilst ripping, it can AND will mess up your rip!
To make things easier, place your "popstation" folder on the desktop, with "cygwin1.dll" inside and the "EBOOT.PBP" & "KEYS.BIN" files from Hot Shots Golf 2 and your recently ripped disc-image
Now the tricky part. Go to START > RUN then type "cmd" (without the quotes obviously). This should bring up a DOS prompt. Type "cd Desktop\popstation" (without quotes, again).
The next step is to RENAME the "EBOOT.PBP" to "BASE.PBP"
We're there now - in the command prompt type "popstation yourfilename.yourfileextension" and let it run

For example -

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j21/pspnaruto/commandprompt.png

The image above is an excellent example of how to run popstation and type in the correct command, follow it and you should be fine

Now, create a new folder under "GAME" on your Memory Stick and copy the generated "EBOOT.PBP" and "KEYS.BIN" in and run! Enjoy completely ****ing Sony over in every possible way!

NOTE: Your generated EBOOT.PBP file will use the Hot Shots Golf 2 icons, if you want to create your own icons, simply include them in the same directory as "popstation.exe" and those will be used instead

Image naming and sizes -

ICON0.PNG 144 x 80 pixels 12k Selection icon
PIC0.PNG 310 x 180 pixels 4k Blurb
PIC1.PNG 480 x 272 pixels Background

You cannot exceed these sizes or else Popstation will not use them! - thanks SketchPCIS

Q I always get an error when I try to create the DATA.DXAR file! How do I fix it?
A Check your 1.50 eboot is named "150.PBP" and your 3.02 eboot is named "302.PBP" if this doesn't work, re-download the firmware from a different source

Q Do PAL games work with this?
A To an extent, yes. There are many graphical glitches with PAL games so NTSC is the way forward

Q Can I convert PAL games to NTSC?
A Yes, check out this thread (http://www.ps3news.com/forums/playstation-portable-chat/psp-popstation-compatibility-list-44819.html) to find a pack containing some great tools to convert. You will need to register however

Q Is the upgrade really worth it?
A You can play PSOne games AND run homebrew. In short, yes. This IS the new golden firmware.

Q Are multi-disc games playable?
A They should be, yeah. Games like Final Fantasy offer you the ability to save before the disc changes, so simply Save, exit, delete the EBOOT of the disc you're using and then copy the new one over, voila!

Q The command prompt is too difficult, got anything easier?
A Learn! Its easy once you get used to it, use that image of the command prompt above to help you! Or if you're ****ing lazy, go here :) (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=47112)

Q Is there any way to add cheats?
A Refer to this thread (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=47063)

Q How do I run 1.50 firmware if this is 3.20?
A Create a folder inside "PSP" named "GAME150", put all of your 1.50 homebrew in there

Q Won't the game always use the Hot Shots Golf 2 disc ID and therefore overwrite saves from all my games?
A This will effect people who want to have multiple games! In answer to the question, yes, it will. This means all save games will be inside a folder named "SCUS94476" and the disc ID of the EBOOT.PBP will be "94476". So, if you have multiple games, your saves will keep being overwritten.
You can change this using any hex-editor (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=hex+editor&btnG=Google+Search&meta=) to change this number to something else, as long as the same amount of numbers are used. This is helpful for multiple discs where you can simply increment the disc ID by 1 - thanks LazerTag, refer to this thread (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40593)

Q Can I downgrade back to 1.50?
A Yes. The OE-A pack comes with a Recovery tool; you need to put the folder named "RECOVERY" inside the "GAME" folder along with the 1.50 eboot named UPDATE.PBP. Restart your PSP holding the R trigger to gain access to the Recovery Menu and run it through there, not the XMB NOTE: This is the information I pulled from the Read Me which isn't the best, can someone confirm that those instructions are correct?

Q Help! I get to the Playstation logo, but then black! What did I do wrong?
A Chances are your rip went wrong somewhere. Best off trying it again in a different format. PAL games also frequently go black, so either use NTSC games or attempt to convert PAL > NTSC.

Q Nice tutorial, but I prefer watching than reading, got a video tutorial?
A Right here (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46781)

Q No matter what I do it won't work, what can I do?
A You have to remember, this has only just been released, so its hardly going to be 100%. PAL games, ISOs, dodgy rips - they are all problematic and give varying results. Try .BIN and .IMG formats, just keep trying!

Q Can I use a different PSOne game from the store, like, Syphon Filter?
A Yes, but popstation was designed for Hot Shots Golf 2, so bear that in mind

and of course, a big thanks to Dark_AleX for the release!

The only thing I can find that would help you is this. (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=47063) Ask for help in that thread and I'm sure someone will help you.

You need to create a folder inside "PSP" named "GAME150". Put all of your 1.50 firmware in there and it should run with no problems.

I'm adding that to the FAQs!

An addendum for this guide. You should edit the disc ID name of the PBP you create with Popstation so each will save properly. For instance if you do use the Hot Shots 2 game as your base.pbp it will use SCUS94476 as the disc name. Just open you new PBP in any hex editor and change the numerical value 94476 to something else. Make sure to use the same number of characters. I used 95001 and increment by 1 on each new PBP for my games. Just seemed easier to track so I don't accidentally reuse a number. Once it's changed it will allow you to save without overwriting the others.

I assume with multi disc games (FF7 for instance) each PBP will have the same disc ID number since on a multigame disc you will want it to save in the same file.

Does that seem correct?

I've added this to the FAQ's, thanks. I've actually just realised the importance of this since most people will be using multiple games and have no idea why all their saves are being overwritten.

Yes, you will, but you will still be able to play all of your 1.50 homebrew.

However, there is a Recovery program included inside the OE-A pack that will allow you to downgrade back to 1.50 if you want. Time to update the FAQ again :)

I am not yet on 3.02 OE-B. Would it be worth updating to this firmware if I can't find a way to download Hot Shots Golf 2? Would a rip of the game work? I do own a legal version of it that I bought at (sigh) Wal-Mart and I have already ripped it to my computer. Any clues as to what I can do?

People are reporting you can use other games downloaded from the Playstation Store, but no, you won't be able to use a rip from the disc I'm afraid.

EDIT: To answer the question, its still worth updating, as mentioned in the FAQ

Must be a bad rip then, or just not compatible. Try a different file extension on your next rip

Didn't take that long for me, I'm guessing 10 minutes is a reasonable time. Just leave it for a while and see what happens.

Yes, yes, yes!! Custom Firmware 3.02 is earth shattering. Install this custom firmware asap. Like the other guy said, you can play ISOS without Dev Hook(I still use dh 1.35 mod to launch ISOS from my hard drive)play almost every PSX game ever made and launch homebrew. What else do want it to do make you breakfast?, I command you to install in now!!!!!!!!

FYI, The save game fix from above is not of my creation. I don't want to take props away from the user to whom appears to have found this solution. Earlier when I posted I couldn't find the link back to the site where I got this information from. I however googled again and located it.

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40593

Please give credit where it is due. Glad I could help spread the info, but again it's not my fix.

I would say to everyone that it may take a bit more time finding images for the icon0.png, pic0.png, and pic1.png, but in the end it's well worth the effort. When viewing your saves from the XMB you won't be able to tell what is what without changing those images. I highly recommend doing it.

Don't try it, it will brick your PSP. I think the reasoning was that TA-082's were designed to reject files from 1.50, which this uses.

Put your PSOne disc in the drive and start UltraISO or your program of choice
Save the disc-image as either .ISO, .BIN or .IMG.

Items 2 and 6 in this list need a little clarification.
2) The image file should be in your popstation directory with the cygwin1.dll, base.pbp, etc.

6) The syntax is "popstation <image_file>" e.g. "popstation castlevania.iso" as in the readme. Your example in the cmd.exe image (you named your image file driver.bin?!) is confusing.

Otherwise, great info! Much clearer and than most tutorials of this kind.

can someone help me out? I have placed my resident evil.bin file in the popstation folder and ran cmd . But im getting an error saying -

invalid number of arguements
Usage : popstation file . iso

What does this mean? This is occuring during step 6

Knowing how to use a CLI would be helpful. An 'argument' is something after the command. In this case, typing "popstation resident evil.bin" means you have two arguments, 'resident' and 'evil.bin', which is one too many. Either rename the file so that there is no space, or use quotes to show the shell that you are passing one argument, not two.

theres more than one SCUS94476 in the PBP, replace them all with your new number in the HEX Editor?

No.

There is only one instance of "SCUS94476" in the image. So not sure what your seeing there.

I do see there is another set of numbers "94476" together, but they are preceded by the letters "UP9000-NPUI", which is not a PSX disc ID number.

Only change the numbers to the one that is the disc ID.

I've got a pretty important question (Well, to me anyway :P)...

I'm working on my backups I have of all my PSX games, and making custom Icons (So far the ones released up till now look kinda...meh to me) and I was wondering if there was -any- way to make the images larger that 12k for ICON0.png and 4k for PIC0.png.

If not, then I guess it's no huge deal...Icould always make the info screen popup an empty, transparent png, and put the text directly onto PIC1.png, but I rather like it looking a little more professional than that.

I ask mostly because once I'm done (I have over 204 games I'm making Icon sets for) I want to release them for people to use if they want.

Number two I'll fix, but whats wrong with 6? Driver is a game from the Playstation and it was a .BIN file

Ok, I have an original 1.5 and a Current-Gen retail 2.81 unit. First, how do I tell if I can do this without bricking it? Second, can I do this on the 2.81, or do I need to try the 1.5?

Thanks in advance.

Your original 1.50 is suitable for this, providing you want to give up a RETAIL 1.50!

i have 0% success with this and im usually good with these things :(

ultraISO isnt workin 4 me either

this is dissapointing ...i tried again with Ultra ISO and this time I got some results, however the game(FFVII NTSC) didn't run. I just saw the PSX logo and then it just stuck there

It is very hit and miss, keep trying. Use different formats each time and basically, just keep trying it.

NTSC games have much more success rate than PAL, so use those. BIN also seems more stable than ISO, but IMG is better for NTSC > PAL conversion.

It is confusing, keep trying and trying!

Thanks also Synthesis for the great guide.

Another problem which occurs and should be noted is that when typing the rip filetype (iso, bin, img) it should b in CAPITAL LETTERS ( I.E driver.BIN ) - I think I had problems when using small letters. A simple enough mistake to make.

Yea, cant get over how great this is.

Hi StetchPCIS, I'm trying to alt the ICON on my game as well (FF9 and Breath of Fire 4). Can you give me any detail on how to change the ICON as well as the dimention of the ICON0.png and PIC0.png. Many thanks

The dimensions are listed on the Front page post, but here is the info again for anyone too lazy to look :P

* ICON0.PNG 144 x 80 pixels 12k Selection icon (To further detail, this is the Icon that will show as the Save Game when using the PSP built-in memory manager, and what will be shown as the selectible menu when you look at the games on your Memory Card.)

* PIC0.PNG 310 x 180 pixels 4k Blurb (This is usually what gives a little detail about the game, right over the background, but I've been having difficulty making it look nice, AND give some information, so I've taken to simply putting everything on the PIC1.png)

* PIC1.PNG 480 x 272 pixels Background (What you see as a new background when you select the item from the menu.)

Now...if only I could get it to be more than 4k for the PIC0.png, I'd be sitting pretty :P

Haha, good point.. I was originally confused whether or not the cd image should be in the popstation dir, and I misinterpreted driver.bin as you saying you should run popstation on the cygwin dll instead of the game.

So I retract that suggestion =)

One question I have now is, is it actually risky to upgrade a 1.50 PSP to OE-B? If it can be downgraded back to 1.50 later, why is OE-B risky to some people?
I got a 1.50 over a year ago, put Squarez on it, played that, and paid no attention to the PSP scene afterwards.. So maybe I'm missing something?

Can someone help me please. I've been at this for a couple hours, the install and everything went perfect but I am having trouble getting Hot Shots Golf to play, or any other game I have.

What folder to the games go in? I thought it was Game302, is that correct? Also, the only thing that needs to be in the folder is the eboot and key file right?

I have a good copy of Hot shots that should work. I am getting an error "80010002" though, right atfer the first screen comes up it exits me back to the xmb. How would I fix the licence issue if thats the problem? None of the PS3 store games work, neither do the ones I made.

Can someone help me figure out why my games don't work, I would hate to think I did all this for nothing, I made it this far. Thanks in advance.

Sharkey, put it in GAME. Make sure you have enabled 1.50 kernel in Recovery (uses GAME for 1.50 eboots; worked fine with RE2 when I tried it last night, when it worked that is...)

I am having a problem to which I have yet to see any answer for anywhere on this site. Last night I ripped, popstationed and installed RE2 to my memory stick. Played it and it worked fine.

Today, I ripped MGS, did the same thing, go to try it, get CA000005 error. Go to play RE2, same shit. What the hell is a CA000005 error? And secondly, how do I go about fixing it?

As well, how many people who have the emulator working perfectly, used a title from the PS Store that they purchased and installed properly to the PSP from their PS3?

---ADDED----

Holy shit I am a god damn moron... Been forgetting to copy Keys.bin to the directory on the memstick... Wow I feel stupid...

You HAVE to stick to those dimensions I think. Try it if they're bigger, I actually want to see if popstation will reject them or not

SketchPCIS
December 27th, 2006, 12:38
Popstation -will NOT work- if the custom pictures are any size or Kb size different than what was stated before. It simply makes either a 0k EBOOT file, or dosen't do anything at all.

I tested it several times, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working anymore. Turned out my PIC0.png file was too large. Same for ICON0.png. PIC1.png, however, can be as large as you like.

samidgley your game needs to be NTSC and you have to have a clean rip of the game preferably in bin or img format. Try ripping other games with UltraISO or Alchohol other programs won't do. I've been trying with MagicISO and got the same problem.

Good luck

I need to buy a bigger stick...

I made a rip of comand and conquer, and I tried making it smaller by using pocketiso to rip the music and videos....and popstation processed it fine... but it didn't play at all :(

Is there anyway that we can somehow edit/remove the video and music from games and have them still work on the psp? or do I just need to get a bigger stick, or wait for some kind implementation for compressed images?

People have been stripping out the FMVs, but honestly, all you need is a 1GB card (they are stupidly cheap, you can buy a 4GB card for the same price a 1GB card was last year!) since PS1 games came on CD's meaning the maximum size they could be is just over 800MB

I know that you can rip fmvs from the iso and that many emulators play these isos fine.

But I know that the psp psx emulator probably doesn't support this, so what I'm asking is...

Is there a way to rip fmvs and/or music from isos without breaking compatibility with the official psp psx emulator?

I can afford a bigger stick, I can even get a 4gb for like $99

But I don't wanna wait for half a month on the 4gb to get delivered... and I don't wanna pay for a 1 gig, when the 4gb is a much better deal...

And in either case, I have to wait for my next paycheck

To play it safe, default everything using ThemePSP first, then format your memory card

Since this basically overwrites everything on flash0: I assume it shouldn't make any difference, but its better off being safe

Just ventured into this whole ball game of the 3.02 (A and B) and I'm coming to this conclusion, and would like an 2nd opinion(s).

the 3.02 that is obtained is a US bios, what happens if I use this on my UK Model? I'm thinking this may cause problems?

98% of my PSX games are PAL, this will be a major drawback to me?

Will this ever be modified to allow PAL/UK Usage?

Sorry for the nievety of these questions, but I'd rather ask than mucking up my PSP, when I have a working downgraded 1.50 using DevHook..

Thanks for the info.

It does'nt matter what region is ur psp. for example mine is an Asian Region 3 it was on 1.52FW when i bought it. Than i upgraded it using a US 2.60FW downloaded from psp-hacks. Finally i downgraded to 1.50 using again a US FW, so all in all it does'nt matter. 2ndly if you have PAL games there is a converter to convert PAL to NTSC to play em on PSP. Search with the first few pages of this thread i am sure its there. Later.

You choose which one you want to do. Getting your PSP charged fully takes quite a while, so if you don't want to do that then skip 7 and go to 8.

Ok, I have my PSP that I've kept at 1.5 since launch, and I finally want to update to 3.02OE-A. I've followed the instructions, from the README, and especially the well-written guide over at DCEmu, and I believe I'm doing everything correct.
1.) I copy the 1.5 and 3.02 over with the oeupmaker folders, and generate the DATA.DXAR file; the file's MD5 checks out.
2.) I format my memory stick, and copy over the 302oeflasher with the DATA.DXAR folder, and run the firmware, and it appears to work, I don't get any errors, and when I check the System Settings the Firmware states 3.02OE-A.

Here's where I'm starting to run into problems.

3.) I put in a UMD game (Wipeout Pure, for example) and try to run it from the menu; When highlighting the UMD the Bios Menu will freeze. If you restart, and it runs the UMD automatically, it goes to the PSP Bios screen, but it looks a bit corrupted.

http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/7503/img0032vp2.th.jpg (http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/7503/img0032vp2.jpg)

4.) It will then continue to load, and show your typical developer menus, but it will freeze again before ever getting to a main menu.

I haven't even gotten to the point of trying any PSX games yet with Popstation, for the matter that what I'm getting doesn't appear to be normal, and from a couple people I've talked to, isn't. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? So far, I've re-downloaded the 302OE files, and the 150 and 302 firmwares, and started from scratch with a different USB cable, but with the same results. I'm starting to wonder if it could be a memory stick issue, but I've been formatting it between each firmware update. I'm using a SanDisk 1 GB, if there are any issues with that.

Is there a particular step I'm leaving out? Other than that does anyone have ANY clue what's going on? I've been able to safely flash it back to 1.5, and I was originally wondering if maybe the 302 firmware I was using, but like I said I re-downloaded it and started from scratch.

Note: I originally upgraded all the way to 3.02OE-B, but had the same problem; so I went down to 1.5 and went up to 3.02OE-A, but the problem seems to be there to begin with.

Thanks a lot. Any help would be very much appreciated!

I got a little confused by the Tutorial for the installation of the firmware so I thought I may share this with you for what it is worth.

"Get the 1.50 and 3.03 sony updates, and put them in the oeupdatemaker folder with the names
150.PBP and 303.PBP"

I think this should read rename the sony updates 150 and 303. If you rename them 150.PBP or 303.PBP then it wont work and the updater will come back with an error message "cannot open file".
The sony updates have already the file extension PBP so there is no need to rename it to 150.PBP etc because it then becomes 150.PBP.PBP.
The original wording in the read me file(s) is a little confusing for me at least been a noobie.

Hopefully this might help some noobies like myself.

Thanks

Has anyone had any success with this using a Datel 4 gig PSP hard drive? I upgraded to 3.02 OE-B with no trouble, but I can't seem to get PS1 games to work. I keep getting the error, "The game could not be started. (80020321)," regardless of what format image I make or which PSX game I use. I even tried running the original Hot Shots 2 files on my PSP, and I still got the same message. i am afraid u have done what cannot be undone (for now). unfortunately there is no downgrader from 2.82 or above. it is also likely u have a TA-082 motherboard which causes more problems. if i were u i would stick to using the PSX/PSP games available from the PS3 store (or other questionable D~L sites) until a safe downgrader is available. either tht or have it modchipped (WARRANT VOID)

my psp keeps telling me that the data is corrupted when i transfer the oeupdmaker folder into my psp. im using 2.71 but i dont have a GAME150 folder. is that my problem? how should my PSP folders be arranged?

In order to use this update, you need to be running either firmware 1.50, or 2.71 SE, not the official firmware 2.71. If you used Network Update to get to 2.71 you have the wrong firmware, and if you bought your PSP as a 2.71, you probably have the wrong firmware and you may have a TA-082 motherboard, which as I understand it means that you can't downgrade below firmware 2.5 without bricking your PSP.

Check System Settings -> System Information -> System Software on your PSP and make sure it says 2.71 SE, 2.71 SE-B, or 2.71 SE-C, not just 2.71. If you have a version of 2.71 SE, you're good to go. If you have 2.71, here are a couple of links for you.

TA-082 Motherboard Tutorial Step 1 (http://psp.about.com/od/homebrew/ig/TA-082-Motherboard-Tutorial/TA-082-code-location.htm)
Generic Downgrader for 2.71 (http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/psp-downgraders-38119.html)

And if for some reason you have trouble with HEN C...

2.71 Downdater Easy Released (http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/psp-downgraders-34445.html)
2.71 Downdater by Dark_AleX/Mathieulh/Yoshi (http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/psp-downgraders-34338.html)

If you have 2.71 SE and you're still having trouble... Well, I guess you'll have to either figure it out or hope someone else answers, 'cause I've never used any 2.71 firmware before.

And if, god forbid, it turns out you have a TA-082 motherboard, remember there's always eLoader.

eLoader 0.995 "Kriek" (http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=88888898)

You can't emulate PS1 games with it (not well at least), but you can do just about every other darn thing.

Best of luck.

And as long as I'm posting, if anyone has been able to successfully run the PS1 emulator using a Datel hard drive, please let me know. :(

And my question goes the same as the icon and background pictures? How do popstation knows which icon and background goes for which game?

Hi, I have Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PSOne. I made a .IMG file using UltraISO. I used the very friendly PSX2PSP for converting it to .PBP which is better and a lot easier to use than the popstation stuff. Anyway, I have a question.

I loaded up my MKT and it went through all the loading screens( the developer, the publisher... like Made by Midway, etc...) but I couldnt skip through any of it. None of the face buttons were in use nor did they show up on the Button Assign menu. In the button assign menu it only showed the use for the L & R buttons.

Now after it loaded all those screens then the title screen, it just went to a black screen. I almost, but couldnt even get to the press start screen. What am I doing wrong? If anything. Should I try using a .BIN to convert to .PBP or change the 'yyyyxxxxx' code to something else. You have that option is PSX2PSP btw as well as easily adding icon & background pics for it.

any help would be appreciated.

Also how do I use GIMP to make the .PNG for the Icon 12kb?

No! At least I dont think you can and still have it work. Basically When I load my Mortal Kombat Trilogy into PSX2PSP it automatically detects what the Game ID is.

It was like SLUS 03300 or something. I looked in the ReadME for game info and for MKT the Game ID it has listed is SLPS 00791. So as far as I know dont mess with it, but I tried a .IMG of SLUS03300 and now Im trying a .BIN of SLPS00791.

I have a quick question: What is the minimum amount of free space needed? I have around 41mb, was that enough? Second, the DATA.DXAR file on mine says it has 0kb of data. Is this normal?

Shrygue
February 1st, 2007, 23:20
The DATA.DXAR file should be roughly 18MB. 0KB means it didn't properly generate it so just try again and see if it works.

I have a question about multiple games and saves. I edited my eboot.pbp from 94476 to 95578, should i also edit the "SAVEDATA" folder to SCUS95578?

or, is there anything inside the save folder that i should hex edit so that my 95578 eboot matches it?

sorry if im not being clear, thats the clearest may i can ask my question lol.

i think i have a unique and very annoying problem

i may be doing something wrong

when i run "cmd"

it doesnt look exactly like the one in the screenshot

at the start of the command thing its got C:\>

every time i put in the location of the popstation folder, it tells me it cant find it or 'Documents' is not recognised as an internal or external command

iv tried typing just cd Desktop\popstation

EDIT: ok f' that i downloaded a GUI that works, got Abes Oddysee working

BUT

It's way smaller than the screen, i mean like half size; is this normal?

EDIT: figured that out too, didnt realise there was a settings menu when u pressed the home key.

ok, so i upgraded from 1.5 to 3.02 i followed the entire psx2psp walkthrough..everything worked fine, i'm playing all my great psx rpgs on my psp..thanks so much..the problem is the homebrew emu. and roms..i was told to create as "GAME150" folder to put all the homebrew apps in there..which i did..genesis works fine..n64 works fine.. the snes worked aswell but couldnt find the roms. the snes emu i have only reads the roms if they are in the games folder , so i put them there and it worked fine,,now the problem..MAME doesnt work at all.. a message comes up saying " error no roms found.check psp/games/mame4all/roms.. it wont recongize the roms in the game150 folder so i moved just the roms to game folder..still doesnt..what can i do..honestly thats like the best emu out..marvel vs capcom on your psp...SF 3 3rd strike..def the best

Ok, when it says "run the program" in step 4(?), I don't understand. I have the two folders on my PSP, in the folder called "GAME".

Do I choose the option on my PSP to look at the mem. card? It shows the 3.02 A thing, but it says the other files are corrupted. And when I choose the 3.02 A thing on my PSP, it doesn't seem to do anything. What am I doing wrong???

Does it matter that my firmware says it's 2.71 but it doesn't say SE?
If so, how do I get it from 2.71 to 2.71SE?

It seems that this firmware is for playing ISO's, BIN's, etc.

Try upgrading to 3.52 M33, it supports almost all versions of popstation, you only need to extract some prx of a firmware to obtain different versions.

I don't completely understand.

Do I have to have the "Hot Shots Golf 2" disk?

Does "ripping" a PSX game disk damage it? Cause I don't want that process to ruin my beloved games.

Does anyone know if "Jupiter Strike" (NTSC) works. Because it's my most absolute favorite game.

Thank you.

Files / Tools you will need -

NOTE: Your PSP must be OE-B for this to work!

This is helpful for multiple discs where you can simply increment the disc ID by 1 - thanks LazerTag, refer to this thread (http://forums.**********.net/showthread.php?t=40593)

Hey guys. I'm trying to get this to work but have run into a problem.

I have 3.02B and am trying to rip some psx games using ultraiso. I bought Hot Shots on sony's site but can't access the file. It says I have to use sony's program to put it on my psp. Aka I can't access the EBOOT or KEYS files. Also, my memory sticks aren't being recognized by my computer any more when I go to usb mode. Any insights as to why?

Thanks so much!
