Been reading through the stickies, doing some searches & such...just having trouble finding what I want to know...

I'm by no means a computer newbie, just new to PSPs...

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction here...whether its to specific threads or otherwise...

Can I play PSP games from the memory stick? Is there a tutorial how to do so as far as firmware, etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Depending on what firmware you have

It all depends on what firmware and what motherboard you have.

Well, which firmware do I need?

I'm no stranger to computers...routinely deal with FTA satellite, burning, daemon tools, etc...

well first you have to find out what firmware you already have by looking at the settings on your PSP because you may have to downgrade..

Go to system seetings then system information

you have to downgrade to 1.5, then, get the 3.02 OE-A custom upgrader made by dark_alex

Couple more questions...

I'm working from scratch here, virign machine & card...

In the instructions, it talks about HEN-D & then putting the files to PSP/GAME/ etc.

I'm assuming I'm creating new folders via the USB connection?

Yep that's right.

Have you Found out what motherboard you have yet.

if not check this and tell me if you have a TA-082 or not.

Yes, I've got the TA-082, so I'm stuck doing it the long way :(

No biggie!

You could use that downgrader Dark_Alex came up with to downgrade to firmware version 1.50. Then you'll be able to play homebrew off your memory stick.

You'll need to run HEN-D first before you can use it though. Also you must run another program on it that modifies an area called idstorge. I think it swapps some sort of keys around there to make the downdate process work.

Link?

The one downgrader I found wasn't TA-082 compatible...

downgrade to 2.71 with this
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=47869
then use Dark_alex's 2.71 TA-082 to downgrade to 1.5

Before you use this, remember that there is a chance of bricking your psp by downgrading.

when you say brick my psp, that means I might make it un usable? or I just cant run things off my memory stick? Sounds scary what ever it means! O_O

Kramer

lol bricking is almost the worst thing that could happen to your PSP. If you brick your PSP it basicaly doesnt turn on at all and the only way too fix it is with a modchip...

And what are the odds of having your PSP Bricked?

Does it happen often? I just got my PSP for Christmas, lol, I dont want to break it all ready!

You can't use a modchip to repair the onboard NAND flash on a TA-082 PSP because it's not compatible with that motherboard.

Kramer
January 3rd, 2007, 17:54
Oh yeah I completely forgot about that.

thewolfhax
January 3rd, 2007, 17:57
so.....like I asked before, what are the odds of my PSP being bricked?

Kramer
January 3rd, 2007, 18:05
The odds depend on you.
If you read and follow the instructions then theres about 1% chance it will brick.

If you dont read and follow them then you've got a pretty big chance of bricking..

thewolfhax

so it just depends on how well u read the instruction? oh god, this reminds me of School, but its WAY more important, lol! thx, Im going to try it, I'll let you know how it turns out...
