Here is a Sticky for all the tools/programs required to make a mod for a 2d/3d game.

Please post free programs here that can be used for modding and i will put them into this first post.

Only supply free programs, if commercial programs can be used, just supply the name only.

Ummm....I missed you?

Well for sprite making I always used Idraw. It was pretty handy. But there's probably a better program out now.

Gimp. Its a free art tool and can probably make sprites and what not. Good for textures.

it's an all in one task tool the link is on my post that says "something to get moders kick started"

Gtk / Q3 (202) Radient for Iris maps.
24-bit TGAs for textures.

Wintex. I use it and I think it's the easiest doom WADs editor. I learnt how to use it in 2 days
