Do you need to make a folder in which to play music on the PSP?

I have no idea at all how to do it!

It doesnt work anyway, tried to put music in the root folder and then into subsequent folders and it wont recognise it!

Yes if you put MP3's in folders off the Music folder, the music will get catagorised in the player.

The directory to save MP3's needs to be x:\PSP\Music

x: been the name of the psp when connected to your pc.

My memory stick didn't come automatically formatted for the PSP for some reason, maybe yours is the same. If you choose to format the memory stick whilst it's in the PSP then it will create all the folders you need (except the MP4 folder). Don't forgoet to back up any game save data first though. As Greensprout stated you should then see a folder at the memory sticks root call PSP and then inside should be folders called Music, Photo and so on...
