The only way to make your games smaller without creating a whole different compression scheme (of which there are no others currently for pops as far as I know) would be to rip dummy files if they are present in your image or movies/music. If your game has a lot of movies you can save a lot of space, but to correctly rip them out of your game is a long and tedious process of which I have detailed my method on this thread:

Other than a different compression scheme or ripping dummy files/movies/audio, no there is no way to make your games smaller. Hope that helps answer your question.

Not to knock your guide but It kinda confuses me LOL Joke
I was searching around and came across this guide
http://www.pocketmatrix.com/guides/psxrip/ its a little easer for me. Ive only tested it with finalfantasy 9 and tactics. 9 works just fine (as long as you replace the .xa file with the blank stf file also) but fft don't work for beans.
