Hey. I'm interested in seeing what the Dreamcast homebrew scene is like. I'm interested in things like what extra hardware I will need, how to know if your console is homebrew compatible, how good the emulators run, etc.

Any help would be nice! :)

First of all, check under your Dreamcast if it says the number 1

Yes, it does. It's NTSC if that changes anything. :P

Nice, it reads CD-R's so you can use homebrew. You don't need a modchip or something similar.
I don't know what emulators you want; There are very very good emulators like Nester DC (NES), SMSPlus (Master System), GenesisPlus DC, Dream Snes, these emulators run with excellent speed/graphics/sound (I don't want to say perfect). Also there's a neogeo emulator called neo4all, which runs games with good speed, but I tried no more than 20 games.
This a good guide (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=21626) if you want to burn images on CD-R's for your Dreamcast, and how to make an image.

This is nice, I have a bunch of useless CDR's just laying there. :P

Thank you for all the help, I'll try this out soon. :)
