Ok, I got a problem. I have a 1.50 launch psp with the sticky square button issue however I have a in-store warranty that expires in a month. I would just swap it out for a new one but I'm afraid of getting a TA-081 or a 2.81+ fw (or both). Are TA-081 still crippled systems? Playing psone games is a big deal for me.

Would my other option be to buy a faceplate w/buttons or did sony actually change the pcb on the d-pad for the fixed ones...a little help guys, thanks.

Just buy a new button set and faceplate. They are pretty cheap.

I really doubt it matters what firmware you will get back from warranty as you should get a 3.03, even if its a TA-082 you can still downgrade with fanjitas help in the next week or so.

So that would defiantly fix the problem then?

I thought I read something a while back that the original psps had off center square button contact which is one of the causes of the sticky square button issue. I would hate to get a faceplate put it in and have the square button not work at all then my warranty would be voided for nothing.

Yeh i think it was the Black PSP's with the square button issue although u heard they were fixed on the White PSP's

Just get a new one, it'll be able to be downgraded in about a week or so.

Sorry for my ignorance but can the TA-082s play the ps1 emulator via the custom firmware? The tutorials I've been reading say you need a non ta-082 psp.

I say in about 2/4 weeks you will be a happy TA-082 1.50er (or 3.03OE-C), if a hello world app has just come out I reckon that it would only be a matter of time (according to Fanjita) till a 3.03 downgrader is released, so get a new one, and hope that it is a low firmware or if not a low firmware, just wait.:-)
P.S TA-082 can do anything now unless it says TA-079-081 on the downgrader descreption.
P.SS Where do you live.

I live in the states, Illinois to be specific.

This is what threw me with the ta-082:
http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/dcemu-official-guide-how-to-install-3-02-oe-a-then-to-oe-b-to-run-psone-games-47121.html
where it says it wont work with the ta-082, is there a version that is compatible with it?

I don't think that they will be low firmwares, in the U.K they are very low still, 2.00 are still in the shops.

Well as long as its 2.80 or below I should be ok correct?
