No not as far as I am aware. The price cut that was mentioned last week was the fact that Sony was going to make a 65nm Cell chip as opposed to a 90nm. This will cut costs for Sony allowing them a higher profit margin.

It would be counter productive for them to also bring down the retail price, as they will lose the slim profit margin they are gaining from the move to 65nm chip production.

cool but would the chip make it not as good ?
