Emulation and Avi Players

Hi again, I was wondering if there was any progress regarding AVIPlay or any other avi players for psp?? Also, I am looking for a good popstation GUI, I saw PSX2PSP and Simple Popstation GUI, and found them to be useful, but does popstation always require the hot shots golf files, or has there been a version configured that doesnt need it??? thanks for any answers, will be appreciated,
