on the XMB of your PSP go to a thing like "photo" then go to "memory stick" then press triangle.
goto info, if it says magicgate then its real.

They are not the actually speeds, they dont have a the correct storage and they break eventually.

Not sure I'm, alowed to mention 'other sites' here, but I speeded up my fake stick totally by formatting to FAT16; don't know why it worked but it did (this is for 4gB ones):

"Before you go any further BACKUP THE MS CARD to your COMPUTER

Say your PSP drive is X

1. Go to Start-> Menu-> Run...
2. Type Format X: /FS:FAT space between : and /

Use windows explorer to reinstall your file structure on the card afterwards

then try your card again"

(Don't worry about the message about 64kb clusters or whatever; that's fine)

I though the PSP formats memory sticks with the FAT16 file system.

Seems not to, at least with the 4Gb ones. I had a game backup with an intro movie - this was unplayable before formatting to FAT16, but was fine afterwards.

This really worked for me! :D

When you buy memory cards off ebay, its a very risky business.

Be careful, check the sellers feedback.

If there are negative ones, check what they say.

Some people sell as a honest product, some are there to just rip you off.
