"Halo 2 PC support extended through June 2013 while we investigate further support options," announced Ellis via Twitter (https://twitter.com/DavidEllis/status/301374494252101632).
343 Industries community manager Jessica Shea last month confirmed plans to shut down the Halo 2 PC multiplayer servers (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/387074/halo-2-pc-servers-to-be-switched-off-next-month/) on February 15. According to Shea, the active player count for the game was 20 people.
Ellis offered no reasoning on the sudden change of plan.
