i think my computer recently got infected with spyware. Most likely because i downloaded a movie video add-on to watch a foreign format of video online. Right after the installation. Warnings that my computer had been infected with spyware came up.

Does anyone know how i can get rid of this spyware safely and freely. No buying software. Something that actually works?

Thanks!

I hate spyware. As a system/network administrator I can tell you it can be a real nightmare to get rid of. Depending on what it is, you might not be able to fully remove it at all with free tools.

I have had mixed success with windows defender and avg antispyware, both of which are free.

I have had machines so bad that the only option is to reinstall them.

good luck mate

Spyware Blaster is pretty good. It doesn't clean your system of spyware but it can help block a lot of it, it's like the immunization feature in Spybot.

use "hijack this" to ID the offenders. Research the web to find the correct tools. Probably smitfraud, combofix etc.
Do it in safemode with Sytem Restore off.
