Hey everyone,
I'm new to all this and I just had a question. If I downgrade my PSP v 3.03 to v 1.5 how will I be able to play games that need v2.18? thanks for the help.

Question. These forums are a place for people to ask questions on a subject they are having a problem with. Hoping that someone else has had the same problem and can reply with a solution. Why is it that everyone just redirects people to google now. Does that not defeat the purpose of these forums?

upgrade to custom firmware 3.03oe-c you can get it here www.dark-alex.org and follow the instructions that come with it

-EDIT-

to downgrade from 3.03 you need an unpatched original umd disk of grand theft auto liberty city stories to enable hen303 which runs the downgrader dont try without it cos you will brick your psp and the game must be unpatched it will have version 2.00 upgrade on if its the unpatched one.

What is the unpatched version mean? is that the one I would get if I bought it at walmart?

No, this is most likely to be the patched version. Only the older versions are unpatched...

Try GameStop/EB Games/Etc.

Well, usually when we say "Google it" people have asked a stupid question. In this case, however, this is not a stupid question, as it's rather highly formed and intelligent.

Downgrading to 1.50 will NOT let you play games requiring 1.51, 1.52, 2.00, 2.01, 2.50, 2.60, 2.70, 2.71, 2.80, 2.81, 3.00, 3.01, 3.02, 3.03, 3.10 or 3.11. However, using DevHook you can "emulate" the firmware by running it off of the memory stick. However, a more worthwhile investment of your time is to install a custom firmware, either 3.03 OE-C (requires you to go to 3.03 OE-A from 1.50, then do the incremental step-ups to OE-B and OE-C) or 3.10 OE-A' (1.50 to 3.10 OE-A then a patch to A', in some cases it's not recommended because XMB hacking is a little more limited, and there's no real need for 3.10 yet). This will run all UMDs requiring 3.03 or lower, and runs off of the flash memory. You also get all sorts of other shinies like full-resolution video playback being unlocked, ISO/CSO compatibility, unlocked POPS (Sony's PlayStation emulator, hacked so you can make your own POPS-compatible games from your own PSX discs), and homebrew capability, without having to use DevHook to get into or out of a firmware.

QuickJump's Downloads (http://dl.qj.net)have all the files required and instructions as to how to use them. Just search for 3.03 OE-A (and OE-B and OE-C) or 3.10 OE-A (and A') or "Dev Hook" and you'll be good. Oh, and make sure to check the ReadMe's, they have most of the data you'll need to know.
