Via pspfanboy (http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/03/09/gdc-07-firmware-gains-inspirations-from-homebrew/)

Although the PSP hardware may not change anytime soon, the system will still continue to evolve through software. John Koller reminded us that PSP has the ability to continuously expand its functionality. "We have released 13 firmware updates since launch."

I asked him about his stance on incorporating features from homebrew, and he admits that Sony actually watches what the scene does. "RSS is actually from homebrew," he admitted. Future firmware revisions may incorporate some of the additions that custom firmware users have been able to enjoy for months.

Unfortunately, full resolution AVC support doesn't seem to be on the table any time soon. Phil Harrison was actually surprised when I told him that the resolution was locked. John Koller, on the other hand, discussed how the perpetually-delayed PSP movie download service would be one way for fans to (eventually) watch full resolution videos on their handhelds.

We would just lose to much to go with Sony's OEM firmwares. They are playing catchup to what the homebrew scene developed a year ago in some cases. Why can't they give use eboot apps that we can download and use now? I'd love a Dictonarey (spelling error intended) and a scientific calculator among other apps that would be useful in school. They just refuse to give us anything like these for some reason.

Becuase Homebrew already gives us most of what we need, and we wouldn't use the stuff sony would give us.

Plus they would undoubtly make you buy them.

"We have released 13 firmware updates since launch."

Yeah...half of which are to patch homebrew. That doesn't count as an achievement imo.

They'd have to release some insane firmware feature for me (and I suspect many of us on this site) to go back to official firmwares.

Maybe something like TV channel streams. I'd love to watch 24 on my PSP when I'm on campus.

"RSS is actually from homebrew,"

Yeah least we forget about the Web Browser itself!

And, why is it that any given Homebrew Browser is still Lightyears ahead of S0NY's?!

Buddy4point0 i was using my 3.02 0e-B and playing FF7, ff8 etc. My friend told me to upgrade to 3.03 0e-c because of the custom XMB. I upgraded it and used the custom XMB. But, i can still play my games that i ripped from my old popstation that came with the 3.02. When i changed my XMB the ps1 games wouldn't work. When i changed it back to the normal XMB the games worked. Can u also answer thees q's:

1: Can i still use the custom background and play my ps1 games because i couldn't before

2: Could i downgrade my psp straight from 3.03 oe-c to 3.02 oe-b

3. When i flashed my flash 0 to the custom XMB and then brought it back to normal the font from the custom XMB stayed can i change it back to normal??

Thanks for looking and if u have time can u mail a reply back to me at [email protected]

yea u can directly downgrade just by running the updater as if you were updating.
custom xbms and psx do work just make sure you dont copy the opening plugin.
the font isnt stored in vsh/resource its in font so your probably restoring the wrong folder

Sony will only allow homebrew only if there so called super game console fails which i hope it does cause there is no hope for the ps3 and Sony will gain momentum if they allow homebrew to combat against the DS.
