What is that? Is that the name of the motherboard inside the PSP? How do I check which one I have?

Sony's failed attempt to disable firmwares under 2.50 using a different motherboard.
You can use the TA-082 downgrader if you have one.

Here's how to check. (http://www.andrewsm.net/psp/novinky/TA-082.jpg)

Just use a TA-082 downgrader so long as you are not running a firmware higher than 3.03 you can downgrade however if you have 3.03 you will need an unpatched version of GTA-LCS to downgrade

Erm.I already have 3.03 OE-C.what I am asking here is, what exactly is TA-082 and how is it different from other PSPs? Also what are the disadvantages. There seems to be a great commotion about TA-082 being unable to be upgraded to 3.30 but I have no idea what is TA-082.

Sony created the TA-082 mobo to stop PSP's running firmwares lower than 2.50 which meant you could not downgrade and then upgrade to a custom firmware and for a while sony looked to be on a winner, however the hackers found a way to patch the motherboard and therefore enabling people to downgrade, The only disadvantage of owning a PSP with a TA-082 at the moment is if you have one with 2.71 firmware installed from new when you downgrade you get a brightness problem which reverses you brightness settings, But upgrading to a custom firmware usually puts this right and if not there are fixers now to correct this problem,
Hope this clarifies all you need to know.
