I'm new here...

So straight to the point:
What would be the safest downdate from version 2.60 to 1.50?
Should I update? Is that more safe?
And what "homebrew"(Open) update is the safest to install?
Any great guide how to exactly downdate and update to a "homebrew"(Open) update... a guide for a n00b would do it! =P if none, some caring to write? =o

Here is a little bit about my PSP:
I don't think it has ta-082 motherboard, at least I cant find anything written inside of the UMD Lid (on the motherboard)
Currently it has the firmware version 2.60!
PSP-1004 if that is doing some difference...
hmm... if any more information is required just ask, cause im too tired to think of any atm =/

I bought a 2.60 a while back. Here's what I did: I upgraded to 2.71 using an official eboot. Then, I used the 2.71 downgrader. Then, naturally, I upgraded to custom firmware. It all went very smoothly.

i would make certain you aren't in possession of a TA-082 mobo, that 2.71 downgrader doesn't work with those mobos, i know there is a downgrader for 2.8 or something like that for TA-082 mobos, you might wanna look in your UMD drive to see if you that IC6001 or IC1003(TA-082)

well, Im pretty sure its not TA-082
I got the PSP right after it came out here in norway! Christmas gift!

well I cant find this "IC1003" as shown on this picture:
http://www.andrewsm.net/psp/novinky/TA-082.jpg
well, i cant see any text there...
I just wondered whats the safest? (nice with some thoughts around that)! =o and any n00b guide? =)

The safest way is to upgrade to 2.80, and use the 2.80 HEN generic downgrader. Here is a link to an application that will walk you through it.

I've used the 2.80 downgrader a few months ago and it worked fine for me. You shouldn't have any problems as long as you follow the instructions in the readme carefully.

Is it safer to maybe use GTA:LCS?
Cause I do have that game =o
What is the most common reason to why a PSP can brick when u downgrade... (and why is it so that it might brick, and that I cant be sure that its not going to brick? o.O)

If you have GTA: LCS with a 2.00 update, it's best to go up to 3.03 and downgrade... That guide will help you there aswell ;)

Just so I get this straight:
Upgrading to 3.03 is the safest?
Then downgrading to 1.5

I do have 2.60 atm and I do have GTA:LCS with 2.00 update. I have an older version of the motherboard than TA-082... =)

sorry if im kinda slow, i just wanna be really really sure that I don't **** up the PSP ;)

Yep that is the safest way to do it.

When you are using that guide application I linked, tell it you have 2.80 firmware or above. It will then talk you through it.

I have now the 1.50 Version =)
REALLY REALLY HUGE HUGE HUG (and a thanks) to everyone who has helped me =)
I now wonder if I should update to costume 3.03 or 3.10 version =/ whats the risks? should I update to 3.03 before 3.10? =o

Custom firmwares are great! They give you the advantages of the new Sony firmwares without losing the ability of using homebrew.
There is only a really small risk when upgrading to a custom firmware (even smaller than downgrading)
If you want custom XMBs and stuff like that you should get 3.03OE, otherwise get 3.10OE because the PSX emulator is a little better.
I went straight to 3.10OE without any problems from 1.50.

By the way: How did you get to 1.50 now? Have you downgraded from 2.60, 2.71, 2.80 or 3.03??

It depends. The main advantage of custom firmware is it has a built in psx emulator. Firmware 3.03 oe-c also allows you to customize your whole xmb and completely revamp your psp. Firmware 3.10 oe, however, has support for european psx games as well as american ones. On 3.10 oe, you can customize a lot of things but not everything. So the choice is:
3.03 oe-c: Customization of all of xmb and american psx game emulator.
3.10 oe-a: Customization of most of xmb and american and european psx game emulator.

Also, if you're going to upgrade, use my pack.

hmm... sounds like I should pick 3.10 OE =o

well, what I did is maybe smart to write on the forum to other users =)
what I did:
First I added the 3.03 update EBOOT.PBP file in the *:\PSP\GAMES\ folder =)
Then I updated to 3.03.
Then I formated the memory stick and reseted the PSP some times and stuff and formated again to be sure... then I used the extract file to extract 1.50 downgrade files into their right places from the same folder as the 3.03 update file was in.
Then I downgraded.
everything went fine! I didnt have to prompt anything, and no black screen or something =o
I had the network error thingie, just had to configurate dates and stuff again! pretty easy =/
I have now formated the memory stick once again!

did i miss anything? >_< most things was explained well in the PSPUpandDownAIOv1.5.exe file =)
