Looking for help from guys in Dubai (about GTA:LCS)

Hi guys..

Looking for help from guys in Dubai.

My bro has bought for me a used copy of GTA:LCS. Neither he nor the seller has any clue if it's unpatched or not. Bought in Dubai. I'm in another country with my PSP.

I heard all or most copies of GTA:LCS in Dubai are unpatched because they all were early imported copies from the US.

The original owner bought it late 2006.
Is there a probability that it's unpatched??

I'd appreciate your help.

Though unpatched is a possibility.

It's most likely to be patched if it's bought in the US/Europe, but it's a different story in Dubai, I guess; they get the games imported at release and probably do not get updated batches as the older ones usually arent totally sold out.

I just need a confirmation.

When it has a 2.0 upgrade on it, it is most likely an unpatched copy...But I'm not completely sure if all versions that have a 2.0 upgrade are unpatched. But if it has an update to some higher firmware it is definitely patched.

EDIT: I mean unpatched (that should confuse a fair few people).

I do know that v2.00 means UNPATCHED and HOMEBREWABLE.

I just need to know if the very version I got is unpatched.
That's why I asked for help from Dubai (it's not in USA!) residents.

You can know it from the box codes, they are most likely on the UMD box side or back (not sure though):

GTA: LCS (2.0 version UNPATCHED):
ULES-00151#

GTA: LCS (2.6 Version PATCHED):
ULES-00151#2

I think we all know that Dubai is not in the USA...
But we don't think that they made a special version for Dubai where 2.00 means patched...(I live in Europe and our versions that have 2.00 on it are unpatched, it's the same in the USA and probably in the rest of the world...)

More info from bro:

On the side of the box there's ULUS - 10041
On the back, the copyright is 2005
On the UMD itself is a picture of a Gun

Could this be unpatched (i.e. Homebrew friendly) ??

The patched disc has a version 2.60 update on it.

The unpatched disc has a version 2.00 update on it.

My GTA:LCS is unpatched and it has a gun on the front of the UMD. I'm not certain if it determines anything, though.

I think you need to mention these codes are for the UK/EU versions of the game.

For US version, ULUS 10041 is a common code.

Note the E and U in ULES and ULUS.

In theory, it would be ULUS-10041#2 for the US version, not sure though..

The symbol "#" is never seen on a US box of GTA:LCS.

As patched and unpatched UMDs of the US version of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories have the same serial number ULUS 10041, the only other way to tell is to look at the back of the UMD in the centre of it and check the numbers there.

If it says UPDL 0048501A 5 with IFPI L332 in very small letters, it is unpatched. If it display UPDL 010050, it's been patched. Well, I think they are the right codes but I could be wrong.

Well, I couldn't wait, so I asked my bro about those codes:

The code is UPDL 010050. So according to the common info, it's patched.

I wonder if it could be unpatched? Did people who mentioned they had 2 exactly similar copies though one was unpatched and one was patched consider these codes?

Does the store keeper have any opened UMD cases? If he does, maybe your brother could check.
